1. It will be like the 1960 elections...I think it will be a tight win
not a blowout...it will be like the 1960 elections.

3. You think it'll be THAT close? That was one of the closest elections in history...
I think it'll be like Clinton/Dole '96.

5. Clinton Dole is a good paradigm
with a bit of Reagan Carter tossed in too (parties reversed, of course).

31. What I thnk will happen
Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 02:44 PM by obiden
it depends on how swiftly obama team is able to preempt the coming swiftboat attacks....if they can't do it hard enough...all the red states currently leaning obama will retract back towards mccain....then we're left with the john kerry-george bush election dynamic where bush had 286 to kerry's 252...and obama then needs either ohio or florida which are both tossups.... In the end i think florida will go to obama but it will be close.

33. Also the bradley effect
they say that itself is worth negating a 3-4 point lead.

4. Honestly, I'm way too nervous to think about the chance of a blowout.
I hope we win big, but I'm going to be a nervous wreck until we win (big or small). We've been burned too badly the last two presidential elections--I trust nothing and no one.

Operation McDesperate started yesterday by McCain
If after a week of polling reflecting this tactic and the Tuesday debate, Obama is still ahead by 5-8 points nationally I'll predict a blowout.

McDesperate is his last tool in the toolbox.

9. Electoral vote, pretty wide margin
Popular vote, not so much.
If O cracks 50 percent it will be an achievement, as noted above.

Seriously... it's clearly a blowout, but the repugs will steal just enough to make it a tight win.

11. If things continue as they have been going the last 2-3 weeks
and going into election day...Obama is at 50% and McCain is in the low 40s, then yes I think there will be a blowout.

she told me she heard "Karl Rove" and i said "you know what Gin i just don't care to cater to your ignorance any longer, either educate yourself on the candidates or just stop talking about them, ok?" And she paused and stammered and said "Ok".

I'm just fucking done trying to convince people.

her women clients showed up for their sessions wearing Palin's hairstyle. She was quick to note that these are women who have no idea who they are or what they think. Those are whom the republicans are aiming their crap at.

19. I think Obama will end up with something between 300 and 353 EV.
No 375+ landslide, McCain might able to close the gap by some point. But if McCain's campaign won't improve very fast, a real landslide is possible, too.

22. Both.
I think it's going to be a blowout in real numbers.

However, the reTHUG "cheat factor" will make it appear to be a very close win -- only because they couldn't cheat enough to actually "win" this time.

But I'm getting prepared for a nail biter.

You never know which of the shit they throw will stick to the wall, and they've already admitted that they'll be throwing a lot of it during this last month.

(Sorry, I had to vote for the close shave.)

36. McCain still has a chance, but something in his favor has to come up
The justifying-of-the-lying MSM (all the moreso when the RW attacks them as too east-coast liberal blah blah blah) need to put the 'pedal to the metal' if they are to carry out their appointed job, which is always to make the elections go as far to the right as possible.

A capture of bin Laden, attributed to the McCain campaign? Well, anything is possible

37. If all voters could actually vote and all votes were legitimately counted
Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 03:31 PM by Sebastian Doyle
it might well be the biggest landslide in decades. The question all comes down to whether the turnout is big enough to overcome the fraud.

We NEED a landslide in this country, along with significant wins in both houses of Congress. We NEED numbers that the entire world can look at and say "Hey America isn't so hopeless after all. They finally rejected that neocon BULLSHIT agenda". And in this country, we need to be able to look at the Repukes and say, "Fuck you. We got the REAL mandate. Now get in the back seat and shut the fuck up!"
