it just means that the county office is late getting their signs up or something, since most of the other signs I saw today were also Repub. Did see one nice big home made one about helping Susan Collins keep her term limits promise. That was cool. :)

Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 03:21 PM by goodgd_yall
For weeks and weeks, there's been only Obama/Biden signs on my street. The McCain folks 1) are outnumbered, 2) are unenthusiastic, and 3) are slow to get with the program. Still, it's 7 Obama yard signs to 2 McCain signs.

3. If you based election results on signs, Obama would win Utah in a landslide.
I've seen over a hundred Obama signs here the past couple of weeks and yet to see a McCain sign.

That doesn't include bumper stickers...which I always see for Obama, but none for McCain.

And I know for a fact Obama will be lucky if he breaks 30% here in Utah...so.

29. Do you really think Utah will go Obama? I doubt it seriously.
In fact it worries me the states map on real clear politics, showing states like North Carolina toss up or only leaning - when he has no chance to win that state.

If McCain takes the south, plus Florida and Ohio, North Carolina and Virgina and Indiana he could win this thing. We should not be complacent.

I grew up in Ohio and although it is a northern state there is plenty of racism there.

Now, if it were a KKK sign, I would support defacing it. But a McLame/Failin sign? Leave it in place.
How else can we know where the losers are on November 5?

6. Different places have different laws re how long before an
election signs can go up, usually 30 or 60 days. Could be that the McCain campaign is so lame it just waited till the 30-day date, which is today, to distribute signs.

30. My mistake - which district (ie: congress) is that?
it looks like it could be either north or south.

Are you in the conservative, hunting, snowmobiling area?

There was an article in Friday's Globe about McCain concentrating on this area of Maine to hopefully pick up one EV as ME is one of two (Nebraska being the other) that doesn't dole out its EV's by winner take all.

The coast in general is more progressive than Aroostook, Penobscot, etc, and Hancock is coastal.

also fairly full of progressives. :) Not like the northern county which is the real snow mobile, hunting, farming demographic.

I am not surprised McPain is trying to split the EV vote here. It's possible he could do it if enough people in this district fall for his hooey. :(

44. Well, I dunno. I'm pretty sure the whole state went blue in the last two elections and I cannot
imagine that _more_ people will go for Palin than did for **. Maybe they'll pull a few "vagina voters" but that may be the only big change.

Here's how we broke down by counties:

2000

2004

46. That's very true
However, the Repubs have consistently gone for this 1 EV for several elections (also, with hopes of flipping the state) and this article seemed to favor McCain's chances this time - he withdrew from MI and he's supposedly sending his people to this district of ME instead.

moderate Maine Repubs, the Union Dems, and the progressives.

Still, it just really surprised me to see these signs crop up after all the stupidity the McPain campaign has put forth over the last several weeks. I find it odd that anyone would be _proud_ to announce their intent to vote for them. *dumbfounded*

I know from experience. Several Kerry signs (two of which were mine) were stolen in 2004 all along my street.

It's the only reason I'm seeing more Chickens for Colonel Sanders signs than Obama's. It's not that there aren't Obama supporters. It's just that Republicans are theiving, scared, free-speech-stifling asswipes.

49. I don't know how it is in other areas, but I have had my name on a list at our
local Democratic headquarters for a yard sign since last week, but they haven't phoned me yet to say that they have received any. The told me that they just receive a few at a time from state headquarters. I'm not talking about just the freebie signs, I'm talking about any signs. When I went to the office a few days ago all they had were a few bumper stickers and a few buttons. I bought a button, but I'm still waiting for a sign. That may explain, in part, why I haven't seen any Obama/Biden signs around town, but I have seen McCain/Palin signs.
