Poll question: Does guilt by association disqualify me for the Presidency, yes or no?
I went to high school in Marin County.

During part of my time in high school, I sometimes ate lunch in the courtyard of the school with a group of other students. We weren't close friends, but we ate lunch together on a weekly basis.

One of these kids who we'll call Ahmed. That's not his real name, but I don't really care to drag his name through the mud any more than it has been. He had tan skin, black hair, and dark brown eyes. It never really occurred to me that he was probably Muslim, and he never mentioned it, but it turns out he was.

He was also a really nice, genuinely sweet kid who never had a bad word about anyone, but that's beside the point.

Close to ten years later, the so-called American Taliban, John Walker Lindh, was captured in Afghanistan.

Lindh grew up in Marin and went to the same school as some of my very close friends.

I read a few articles about Lindh, because I was interested in how a kid from Marin could get caught up in a mess like that.

One day I read this article, and HOLY SHIT, Ahmed was in the article!

It turns out Ahmed was the guy who introduced Lindh to Islam!

The Islam practiced in Mill Valley, California, is nothing like crazed radical Islam, and Lindh only became a radical Muslim after he left the US, but still! I was friends with a guy who was friends with a crazed Talibani!

So is my future political career hosed or what?

1. FWIW
I served in the military around the same period McCain did. Now, does that make me a Repug or at least some crazy old VFW fart who wants a rematch with Vietnam?
