Folks, the election has begun
I hope you're all watching, because the next President of the United States came to kick ass and chew bubblegum.

And he's ALL OUT OF BUBBLEGUM!

5. Bang
Kerry knew.

He had to take it all on the chin all month long.

Now the REAL fight begins.

I believe in this man.

13. It was good but it still wasn't tough enough
I hope Walt is right. We need alot tougher. I'm also disappointed in Edwards. I thought his role was to go negative so Kerry didn't have too. He's WAY too nice.

incredibly tough. It called Bush and Cheney unfit for office. You can't get much tougher. It was a great speech. Go Kerry.

30. Edwards' role was never to go negative.
Kerry chose him specifically because of his effective, upbeat message throughout the primaries.

12. if you've been depressed then that's even more reason
to get down to that phone bank. I was there tonight and when I got home, even Bush's speech didn't bring me down. Energy happens in numbers.

36. No, please don't phone bank.
Just reading your posts here is a huge downer. The last thing the campaign needs is a depressed person representing Kerry calling undecided voters. If you really want to help Kerry, go volunteer to phone bank for Bush. From what I've seen here, it would be the biggest contribution to Kerry you could make.

a 2 month "election" works for me.
This is the end game. We will take no prisoners. We are going to send illegitimate squatter boy back to Crawford or wherever the hell he is from.

9. Early in his speech Kerry said the key words which will win it for him
and he must repeat them in the debates: "Do you think we are heading in the right direction?" and "Are you better off than you were four years ago"--That is the key to winning this election. Most people can't honestly say they are, unless they are super wealthy. Most folks are worse off--the poor for sure. The middle class more squeezed than ever.

15. And I hate to put it in these terms, but it is war.....
and one we cannot afford to lose.....

Honestly DU'rs, you wanted Kerry to come out blasting and he did, now it is our turn to show the support he needs to keep strong in the weeks to come, it will get ugly I have no doubt..

But remember just what it is you are fighting for and against...

There should be no hesitation in your minds...

16. I don't think the remaining independents have made up their minds yet
One Las Vegas production starring George Bush will not do the trick. Bush has been up in the polls before. I predict that the economic downturn and the 1000 dead in Iraq (I wish they didn't have to reach that number) will put Bush's poll numbers right back to where they were before within a matter of weeks. This race is just heating up and I can't wait for the debates, where no one will be there to hold the Chimp's hand.

24. Agreed. Bush isn't the only politician who has been consistently...
underestimated!

Kerry has made a history of winning elections that he wasn't expected to win or where he had been counted out.

He knows what he's doing, and this first shot fired in Ohio tonight was damn assertive. And very impressive.

32. I'm happy with the speech
I thought it was a C+ or a B. i think it was appropiate for "timing' purposes. But i still think he needs to hit them harder. I'm hoping he starts doing that tommorrow. He can't ignore the swiftboats stuff. Their not going to stop anyway.
