All I'm saying is this:
So Bush pulled a fast one on us and gave what will be percieved as a good speech. Am I a little less optimistic than I was a month ago? Sure. Am I worried? No. Why? If you followed the primaries, John Kerry was dead in the water. I mean NO ONE was talking about him. He was polling single digits in most states. There was absolutely NO WAY he was going to win. Some circles were annointing him the great political disapointment in recent memory. I can still remember the day things started to turn. He was interviewed live via satellite on CNN, standing outside on a freezing cold Iowa morning...I couldn't explain it then and I can't explain it now....but it happened and it was just short of something mystical. We're in a race that at worst for us, is a statisical dead heat. John Kerry is a closer and this is the most important election in recent memory. Stay the course, put your faith in those fighting on our side, and do what you can when you can. Things are going to be just fine.

1. Did you watch his speech just now?
It wasn't the gloss that Bush gave us but it was from the heart and it was biting.

3. I don't buy it
it was the standard state of the union address, there was nothing particularly moving about it.

13. Oh I didn't buy Bush's speech either. My point (poorly made above)
was that Bush gave us recycled platitudes that took over 30 edits (if I recall the article correctly) and it was well delivered in order to fool people that hate him into thinking he cared.

Kerry on the other hand actually DOES care and gave it from the heart...and most of it was not rehearsed. One doesn't have to rehearse what they actually mean.

7. From the heart is exactly right. The emotion was virtually oozing from
that man. Quite unlike the emotionless "dead" face of the idiot a few minutes ago.

8. Yes it was all of those things
and it was new to Kerry. Give him a week to hone this new approach and it'll be something special.

5. I've listened to George Bush for 4 years. Nothing new in that speech
Might as well have been listening to the same old cricket in the backyard for all the good it does. The Republicans have had 4 years to deliver and all they have delivered are two wars, a deficit and the loss of jobs.

10. Pretty mediocre in my opinion...
...the only possible 'good' that can be extracted from this thing is that he didn't butcher the language as bad as he normally does.

Beyond that, it's pretty much standard fair neo-con, corporate steaming horseshit.

12. Classic example of lowered expectations-
So little is expected of Bush that a sub-par performance becomes an above average one. It's one of the Bush camps most effective weapons.
