Pat Peale, the band-aid poster girl, was just "jesting"
From the article:

Peale said she does not apologize for her comments or for the bandages, but that she did not mean to insult Purple Heart recipients.
"I'm not apologizing for what I did. It was in jest," she said.

Peale said her behavior pales in comparison to the antics of crowds of liberal protesters outside the convention center.

"There were certainly a lot of things coming from the protesters that were not in jest," she said.

She said along nearby 42nd Street, there were several demonstrations that took pornographic themes. Other protesters, according to Peale, rode bicycles and attempted to run delegates off of the sidewalks. Many were anti-war but shouted angry rhetoric about President George W. Bush.

"It's not fair for the police and the city of New York to pay to protect us from the protesters," she said, adding she believes in the right to protest but that many of the demonstrators have acted "belligerent."

6. The protestors were protesting because of outrage over her hero...
George W. Bush and his policies, which is a proper, just and right thing to do.

Pat Peale, on the other hand, participated in a mean spirited, childish, juvenile prank that insulted decent, honorable veterans everywhere.

Got it, Pat Peale, you stupid goddamned woman?

12. I actually feel sort of sorry for her....
She's probably been the kind of person who spent all her life getting along, never asking questions, doing what everybody else did because she didn't make waves...and it probably never occurred to her to ask why she was doing what she was doing, or what it meant.

All the "cool kids" were doing it, so she did it too.....and now she got singled out because a photographer happened to be nearby and she was momentarily transported by childish glee.

But most people get that out of their system at age 12 or 13....

It was a calculated, vicious and ugly thing to do, and now she's become the living symbol of that hate and disrespect because the people who she trusted cynically used her and a bunch of others.

18. big mistake - don't feel sorry for pat.................
According to my file, Pat's known Karl Rove "since he was a youngster."

She slothed her way to Texas from Ohio in the early 90's and was in on the ground floor of the chimpy/Ann Richards governors race.

Pat lives in a $520,000 house on a lake in a gated community.

The lovely Ms Peale also was in Florida making sandwiches for the "rioters" in the election office hallway during the 2000 election bru-ha-ha.

She totally screwed up my little county by offering large campaign contributions to democrats that would switch parties. She had an amazing success rate here.

Ralph Hall kisses her ass.

She doesn't have dinner with chimpy as often as she used to.

She has two sons, one works for phil graham, the other for fred thompson.

This woman may look like a fool, but she's got some serious clout.

20. Thank you for that reality check!
I was furious when Republicans said that "Republican leaders" weren't responsible for the band-aids. What are delegates except for party leaders?

You don't get to be a delegate without having been a loyal and effective party leader for many years. These people knew exactly what they were doing.

When the Texas democrats went to Ardmore, Oklahoma to stall the redistricting issue, Pat Peale was there with her shock troops.

Pat danced around, flapped her arms and went cluck, cluck.

A fool???? She shows occuasional lapses in judgement.

Pat Peale hates liberals.

11. "I'm not apologizing for what I did. It was in jest."

No apologies necessary, Pat. Not for me, anyway. I managed to get through three years of military service in a war I despised. No Purple Heart for me.

But, there were the people I knew who didn't fare so well, one with his arm cut off in a wartime accident, and another, on patrol inside the Cambodian border, who had a grenade rolled at him while his trousers were down, taking a shit. Geez, Pat, it only took off his right hand and laid shrapnel up and down his right side. No big thing.

And, then, in the good war, there was my father, who fell out of a burning B-24 with his face on fire. He passed out at 17,000 feet. Barely woke up enough to pull the d-ring on his parachute and passed out again, so he broke his ankle on landing. On his way to prison camp, his face swelled up twice normal size. But, hey, the Germans were pretty good with his burns. They wouldn't set his ankle, though, because that might help him escape from prison camp. Spent nine months there. He got one of those Purple Heart band-aids, too.

No biggies. Band-aids would do, right?

What have these goddamned chickenhawks been teaching you about honor and sacrifice, Pat? Nothing, from what I can see.

Piss on you and all your kind. And that Texas broke-down horse you rode in on.

"It's not fair for the police and the city of New York to pay to protect us from the protesters," she said, adding she believes in the right to protest but that many of the demonstrators have acted "belligerent."

I think her fucking band-aid is a form of protest. Just because this asshole got in to the convention does not give her special rights over any other person in this Country.
Maybe she didn't throw a punch, but she probably hurt more people in this Country with her little "jestful" form of protest.
This idiot should be the poster child of what a bunch of self-centered, childish, assholes these repugs are.

Her porky, ugly snout should be plastered next to a picture of a purple heart recipient with no arms and legs who lives in a squalid trailer park, which is all that he can afford on his disability check from a grateful government. The subtitle on the poster would be "This is how Republicans honor your service"

This is what people always say when they've done something to humiliate or demean another. "I was only joking! What are you getting so upset about?" thereby laying the onus on the victim. It's a favorite tactic of abusers, too.

The Texas Gov website shows the following appointment on 5 May 1995.

"To be a member of the State Banking Board for a term to expire January 31,
1997: Patricia Crawford Peale, 1111 Kiowa Drive West, Lake Kiowa Drive, West,
Lake Kiowa, Texas 76240. Mrs. Peale will be replacing Jane H. Macon of San
Antonio whose term expired".

Patricia CRAWFORD Peale. WTF. Bet when she's having dinner with chimpy they share a chuckle at that coincidence.

Pat is currently serving on the board of directors of the Red River Authority.

Her email address is floating around the internet, she's got an answering machine on her phone.
