Did anyone catch the utterly vapid attempt-at-mythmaking pre-speech video?
The culmination--the argument, if you will: After a series of still photos showing Bush hugging and being hugged by various 9/11 family members--the girl in Illinois, the cop's mom who gave him her son's badge (stupid ninny!), the fireman Bush latched onto for his primal photo-op in the rubble--the scene turns to the opening game of the 2001 World Series, and slowly, the images start to move as Fred Thompson intones platitudes about how Bush rose to the occasion and threw a pitch, from the mound, right over the plate...and from that moment, the entire nation knew everything would be allright.

2. Republican message: Ignore Bush's record
Look at the pretty pictures!

Bush's speech was a great compendium of what he might do should he be elected, wasnt' it? One thing, though: Who's been president the last four years that we have all these tough problems to overcome?

3. That video is a perfect example of Bushist begging of the question.
In order to be impressed by it, you have to already believe that Bush is a giant of a president. It doesn't work if you don't believe that, and it won't convince you to believe it because there's nothing in it that shows Bush being a giant. Of course Bush gave them bupkes to work with over the last four years. All they could come up with was a throw across the plate from the mound at Yankee stadium. :eyes:
