Stick It to New York
In the short run, the Republicans got away with holding their convention in New York and appropriating the symbolism of September 11th. But New Yorkers were insulted by it, and some long-term fallout seems inevitable.

It's no longer cool to be a Republican here. New Yorkers who usually don't think about politics are once again proud to be Democrats. This change signals the end of Republican dominance in local politics. Bloomberg and Pataki will return to obscurity, and Democrats will replace them.
