We believe churches took over our primary here in Florida.

The guy who won the primary equates himself with martyred saints.

There were two Democrats running in our District 12 primary here.
Jeff Siemer, pro-choice, and Bob Hagenmaier, anti-choice, anti-abortion, and involved with a group called Democrats for Life. Bob was absolutely inept at the debates, and he even told someone that he did not really know what he was doing yet. Bob won. There is more to the story, but I don't know how much to say yet.

This is a perfect example of religion taking over our elections here. Here is an article from a Catholic newspaper in British Columbia which quotes Hagenmaier.
http://bcc.rcav.org/04-08-02/index2.htm

Bob Hagenmaier, a Catholic and congressional candidate from Florida, said told The Pilot, newspaper of the Boston Archdiocese, that it is not always easy to espouse pro-life views when running for office.

"From the reaction I've received ... I'd say it hurts me," he said.

Hagenmaier recalled that once someone offered to introduce him to other Democrats in Florida. When the fellow Democrat learned Hagenmaier is pro-life, the offer was rescinded.

He told The Pilot it helps him to remember the saints martyred for their faith.

"I don't get shown around to the Democrats," he said. "It's a small price to pay."

I understand that many churches here "got out the vote" for him, because of Jeff's pro-choice stance. BUT, they did not in some instances emphasize that Bob was anti-everything. Now a few are very concerned. I believe a lot of this was done covertly to avoid attention. Jeff got the endorsement of the Ledger, he shone at the debates.

I am like Howard Dean. I do not want religion messing with my politics. Bob's site CLAIMS he is socially liberal....he is not.

We just got screwed here. This guy put in 25,000+ dollars supposedly of his own money. I am going to do some more research on this. I do NOT want to vote for someone who equates himself with martyred saints!

Here is the Hagenmaier website which is not telling the truth about his being socially liberal. And also Jeff's site. Jeff got 45% of the vote, which is not bad for an openly gay candidate here. However, he is our friend as well. And we resent it.

On Edit: I notice the site now site socially conservative. Hmmm...m...

3. How does anyone in Florida know who won the primaries?
There seems to have been alot of 'funny' things taking place there at the polls!

4. More: Here is the supposed Democratic group supporting him.
They are linking to articles criticizing Edwards and Kerry for their position on choice as well. Wolf in sheep's clothing is coming to mind here. Any group can choose the word Democrat.

And some of the sites they link to:

And their constant use of the word, pro-life, bothers me. That is how the GOP turned the tables on us....we say pro-choice, they indicate we are anti-life by calling it pro-life.
