Guess What: James Garner - the Original TV MAVERICK: A HUGE Democrat!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Garner

Politics

Garner is a strong Democratic Party supporter, contributing over $7,500 to Democrats running for Federal office the past seven years, including Dennis Kucinich (for Congress in 2002), Richard Gephardt, John Kerry, Barbara Boxer, and various Democratic committees and groups. Since 1982 Garner has given at least $29,000 to Federal campaigns, and over $24,000 of that has been to the Democrats.<32>

For his role in the 1985 CBS miniseries Space, the character's party affiliation was changed from a Republican (as in the book) to reflect Garner's personal views. Garner said: "my wife would leave me if I played a Republican".<33>

Prior to the entry of ex-San Francisco Mayor (later U.S. Senator) Dianne Feinstein, there was an effort by Democratic party leaders, led by state Senator Herschel Rosenthal, to persuade James Garner to seek the 1990 Democratic nomination for Governor of California.<34>

from Malo, Garner and the original Dallas Mavericks...

does anyone have the spare time to do this?

12. Oh, I LOVE that film.
It hardly ever gets mentioned anymore, but should be required viewing to get a high school diploma.

Doesn't hurt that Garner is unbelievably gorgeous, too.

14. A sharp script by Paddy Chayefsky and outstanding supporting performances by
Melvyn Douglas and James Coburn - and Julie Andrews proves she can act, without singing a note

19. It's not an anti-war film as some like to label it,
I don't see it as criticizing war at all - it's mostly about internal military politics, and a culture clash (U.S. vs. England) and it's partly a love story.

Love that guy! Especially in those old Garner/Doris Day movies!

I have almost every episode of Rockford Files on tape. I didn't know Garner was a Democrat, but it makes sense. He's smart, honest and fair.

22. I've always loved James Garner (since Maverick!) and I heard
he was the nicest man in person, too :-). My six degrees (well less than six) of seperation. My first realtor in CA was the daughter of the greenskeeper at Pebble Beach. He knew James Garner well and my realtor met him many times.
