Don't Worry About Obama's Safety

He is well protected, and the Secret Service are doing their jobs. He is not worried, so you shouldn't be. He has the greatest interest in self-preservation, far more than you or I have.

My concern over the ever increasing vitriol from the mcKKKain rallies is violence or threats from these hate-filled crowds to Democratic Voters. The ball that mcKKKain and S.S.arah are rolling down the hill could easily get out of control, and the hate generated could be aimed at common citizens.

That is my worry, and why it must stop before it gets out of control, if it hasn't already.

4. I agree. The SS is the ONLY Fed. agency that is still very well

run and doing a very good job! Think of it this way. If they managed to keep Shrub's a** safe, with so many people WORLD WIDE, whating to take him off the stage, they can protect anyone, and they really aren't partisan! They take their job very, very seriously!

The avg. citizen doesn't have that kind of protection, and it is frightening. Lots of people on DU chastize me for being a chicken, but I've seen some of the RW radicals in action, and I just stay away from them. I suggest everyone else do the same.

I have been to DC and the White House several times and you take one step out of line and you will wish you had never been born. I made the mistake of walking towards a couple of them one time to ask directions and was told, in no uncertain terms, to get the fuck away NOW because I was interfering with what they were doing and watching. Those guys looked like they were chiseled out of granite, had some equally scary dogs and were armed to the teeth.

I get some wierd looks from people on the road and sometimes I think it's because of my Obama08 bumper sticker. I take it in stride and not get paranoid. But anything can happen. These conservatives are getting whipped and whipping themselves up into a froth. They did it when Clinton was running and were vicious while Clinton was in office. Now we have both a Democrat leading and he is black. The nutjobs are coming unglued, and hopefully so will the Republican party. But on Nov 5th they'll blame it all on illegal aliens voting.

sometimes on the freeway someone will really ride my tail, or swerve in front of me, etc. on a fairly empty road and I think WTH?

Then I remember I've got the sticker on the car.

The same thing happened back in 2004 -- even after Bush had won -- and I thought about taking my Kerry sticker off. Then I realized I was not going to back down (I don't have kids, so it made my decision easy) and I kept that sticker on my car until the day I removed it to put my Obama sticker on.

you can't forget that when those things happened, those leaders, the SS, AND the public in general thought differently.

Do you remember the stories about JFK sneaking out of the WH at night just to take a walk alone? Back then, Presidents used to ride around in convertibles with the top down! I think Kennedy's assassination, as terrible as it was, was harder for the American people to accept because they all really believed something like that could never happen in the USA!

SS protection & presidential activities have dramatically changed since then. Presidents take far fewer risks, and the SS doesn't take ANY!

One thing that Marley and Hensley didn't have-- governmental authority themselves. They had to depend on their friends in government to help them out. But then Hensley got a gift-- his daughter married the former Navy pilot and decorated veteran of the Vietnam conflict, John McCain. Hensley knew right away what to do. 18. Totally agree. I have faith in the Secret Service's ability to secure a perimeter.

I think Obama and Biden and their families are safe. But there are thousands of Democratic candidates and campaign workers who are potential targets out there, who aren't being protected.

I hate to say this, but I'll be shocked if there isn't violence of some sort directed against someone seeking elective office by some violent right wing thug.
