Turnout is everything
The Democratic base is enormous. But it doesn't come out as strongly as the Republican base, which is why we lose.

But if the Democratic base came out in force, the Republicans would be swamped.

It's why the polls showed Gore losing by several points, but he won the popular vote. And this year the base is much, much more motivated.

So forget the polls. Get out the vote.

1. Agreed
Turnout is everything. If we get out the vote then we win. Get ready to walk those precincts and make those phone calls. I don't mind precinct walking but I despise the phone calling. I do it because it's important.

2. The admitted Rove stagegy is to forgetabout these swing voters
and play to their base. That is something I brought up here a week or two ago. It IS all about getting out the base. Kerry would be wise to go back to the hell, fire and brimstone of the primaries and fire up the base (as you say, we are bigger than they are--and particularly a lot of people who just haven't even registered to vote). Let these idiotic undecided voters fall where they may!

6. True. And part of that strategy is to go negative to depress turnout. n/

3. Nuts. Turnout isn't everything.
It's not who gets the votes.
It's who COUNTS the votes.

5. I agree street canvassing is most effective
I went to a MoveOn meeting in Ohio and committed to volunteer. I still haven't heard from them and have not recieved any list of 10 likely democratic voters to call on.

I'm doingit all on my own everyday on the street and it is realy easy.

We should be sharing canvassing tips and hitting the streets en masse.
