Yesterday on Fox News Sunday, Bill Kristol said John McCain’s campaign has really become “a pathetic campaign.” In his New York Times op-ed this morning, Kristol went further, suggesting that McCain should “fire his campaign” and “start over.” Asked to respond to Kristol’s criticisms, McCain campaign spokeswoman Nancy Pfotenhauer said on Fox News:

Well, you know Bill is entitled to his perspective. And I used to work for Bill. And I can tell you personally sometimes he’s brilliant and sometimes he’s not. And this is one where it’s the latter category. You know, I think unfortunately he has bought into the Obama campaign’s party line.

I don't really expect the McCain-Palin campaign to actually come out in public and admit they've goofed up. That would take a quite a bit of time considering how dysfunctional they are.

Taking that into consideration, they really should try to politely address the issues brought to them by their own RNC base. To do otherwise only further flames the fires, turning their base even further away, and making enemies where you don't want enemies.

McCain still has to go back to the Senate when all is said and done, and Palin - well, who cares, I hope the RNC totally freezes her out. The way McCain's campaign staff has behaved, other politicans may not let them near another campaign for fear they'll screw it up.

Between Bush*, McCain, and the past years of Republican Congresses, the RNC is really hurting. Hurting bad. For once, the RNC actually puts a smile on my face!
