What brand of Champagne will you have on ice Nov 4?
I am tired of going cheap with Cooks. Any other ideas? Please no beer or other alcoholic/nonalcoholic suggestions.

This is a champagne thread.

Oh, and YES I will be buying champagne on a beer budget.

3. YEAHHH! I'll have to remember that name. We're going to
a watch party where we will whoop it up with more people from the People's Republic of Portland. THen head home and pop open the bubbly. And then probably embarrass myself calling people on the east coast all hours of the night.

It runs around $20 - $25 and is really, really good.

That being said I have a bottle of 'J' rose sparkling wine chilled and ready to go!

17. The French do it best (ie: real champagne).
Roederer is pretty good and not too expensive. Moet and Mumms can also be had at sale prices.

I drink champagne for the taste, not volume. Better to spend $50 on a great bottle of the stuff than $12 on a mixer sparkling wine (ie: good for mimosas).

If you want to go domestic, Korbel is inexpensive and OK.

42. I imagine I've had it
I used to work at a place that had 100 different kinds of champagne. I tasted a bunch but it was the Cristal that impressed me. Since it was on the house, I took extreme advantage. Yum!

Ultimately, I like all champagne and sparkling wines as long as they're not to sweet. Back in the day, when I had to pay, I drank gallons of Freixenet.

Is Krug delicate? I like delicate.

BevMo is 2 blocks away. I can be there and back in 10 minutes and not miss much. I'm not buying the stuff until the deal is sealed.

80. NONE!
My brother and I had headed off to the store to pick-up some champagne on Election Day 2000, just after Michigan and Florida had been called for Gore. I won't be counting any chickens early this time around.

86. NOv 4th is my birthday. So I'm hoping for a great birthday present
Years ago, back in 1980, my birthday happened to fall on election day as well. Some of my friends threw a big party for me -- a combination birthday party and election returns party. Unfortunately, that loser Jimmy Carter conceded at 9:00, just as my party was getting going. Carter's concession put a huge damper on everybody's spirits. What a bummer!

Hopefully, this time it'll be a more upbeat night. Especially since I'm a lot older now and can't take much more losing in my ripening middle age. I wouldn't mind if it was over at 9pm this time, as long as it was McCain, rather than Obama, conceding.
