1. She's not ready for prime time
She may be great in the background, but they should send someone else out in front of the cameras.

3. I agree, but "sweet" won't win this campaign.
This is too important for the world!

4. Just saw her on Face The Nation
her voice was barely above a whisper and that spoke volumes to me.

6. She should not be on the air
She needs to be behind the scenes. Preparing for FTN is a waste of her time.

Whoever is responsible for the 'political judo' in August needs to go. I'm really looking forward to the shake up.

7. I think she's articulate, intelligent and an asset to the campaign.
I think Kerry needs to be Kerry and just get his message out, but I think he needs to show he is a leader and sometimes you have to go on offense. Like he said, turn right into the enemy. No more free rides for Bush, Cheney and McCain. He needs to quote, "My true friends stab me in the front," and refer to John McCain. Politics may be ugly, but when politics trump friendships, then it's time Kerry let's go of dysfunctional friendships. Everyone is sick of McCain and his wishy-washy politics. He's the American Humpty Dumpty sitting on the wall.

Mary Beth wrote an excellent letter requesting Cheney to open up the Energy Task force, Bush to release ALL of his AWOL records, etc. I think she is vital to this campaign. It's McAuliffe (sp?) that I think needs to go, he is an out of touch yuppie that gets beat every time he opens his mouth. I'd love to see Kerry can his ass and get someone who can bury Rove. Every American loves to watch a sinister unfair personality fall in the end, and watching Rove go down will be the better than any movie ending where the bad guy faces that ugly fate.

8. She looks like a nice old lady.

But what we need is a mean bitch who will run up to Karl Rove and bite off his tiny genitals. I could not possibly imagine Mary Beth Cahill ever defeating the most evil tricky bastards to even run this country. Get her out of any position of authority on the campaign.

I think it was on Bravo, but anyway, MAry Beth Cahill is the opposite of the Kathy Bates character.

10. I read that letter
Edited on Sun Sep-05-04 10:14 AM by Marianne
and seriously--I don't think writing a letter to Cheney and Bush gets us anywhere. It only serves to preach to the choir--Although nicely written, it is passive and quite naive to think it would go further than the nearest paper shredder. These are big time operators here with all kinds of powerful, nefarious connections-they are big time ruthless and barbaric warriors-we don't need to send them paper letters of complaint from our campaign--we need Joan of Arc, not Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

13. Now I'm just asking a question: Is she the one that turned Kerry's....
Campaign around vis a vis Howard Dean? If so, she gets a little more slack from me.

We shouldn't turn on our own campaign manager, as that is what the GOP wants. They want to create a sense of impending doom, want us to turn on one another, and self-destruct.

Now. What I think may be going on in the Kerry campaign is this: The candidates and their wives all have staff, which would be four sets of people, and they are competing.

I read that some of Elizabeth Edwards people had moved up in the campaign, which seemed odd to me. I think maybe there is some jostling for position going on, which would be natural, given the strong personalities of the primaries involved...the candidates and their wives.

Once when I was much younger, I was running some really big work, and one of the general foremen who worked for me was really on the attack against me. He thought he should be where I was, that I was too young, etc... I wanted to fire him so bad I could taste it, because I hate a back-stabber. I tried to do it, but had to go a level above myself to get it done.

The old WW2 ex paratrooper I worked for told me: "You will find, that in the long run, you are ahead to do it with the people you already have", and he told me, "you will find, that some people need more help than others".

To make a long story short, I wound up doing about half that guys work, gave him more people, and other resouces...but the whole thing started running like a clock. We made big money. He became my most loyal junkyard dog. To have canned that clown would not have been worth the drop in morale across the board, and the temporary crash in production. It would have made all of us look bad. The old superintendent was right.

Kerry is adding some hitters, by all accounts. He is moving people around...Mary Beth is probably getting a little help, from here on out, and she probably needs it. That feeling of having the weight of the world on your shoulders is one of the worst feelings you can have, especially with a bunch of underlings snapping at your heels, thinking they can do the job better than you can, and that is exactly where Mary Beth is at.

But remember, when it comes right down to it, she is not the boss, John Kerry is, and it may be, the boss is gonna have to settle some of those little empire-builders that exist in any organization...down.

And is listening to Sasso instead of her.

18. In the End it is Kerry who is Responsible
No matter what his "handlers" may represent to him or suggest or whatever. He is the one running. He is the one who should make the decisions. Don't know anything about this woman good or bad or indifferent. I have been receiving the letters the campaign sends out. All they are are money requests and preaching to the choir. Fire her or don't, just get some friggin energy and momentum into this campaign.
