On election day, won't people vote their hopes instead of fears?

I think that's what this election will come down to, assuming the polls are still close at the end. And just knowing human nature, it seems to me that the people who are potentially receptive to Obama's message- the ones who have pushed his lead in the polls up to 10 points at times, will not pull the lever for an old, grumpy and pretty depressing candidate who promises nothing but the same Bush policies and whose main message for the last month has been one of stoking fear and anger. That's no message that anyone hoping for a better four years will embrace, in my opinion.

I know some voters on the fence have sincere concerns about Rev. Wright and some other things in Obama's past. I've talked to some of them. But I sense in those same voters that they know deep down inside that Obama is a good person, and they are sick to death of the Republicans.

So the bottom line is that I see this election being close til the end, but I expect a landslide win for Obama based on the conversations that the people on the fence have with themselves in the voting booth. We all want a better future, and Obama at least offers the possibility of that. So I can't see this country embracing McCain's message. I didn't think we'd re-elect Bush either, but I'm hoping my sense is right this time.

1. No, I voted absentee over a week ago! America waits for the answer, who won?
The odds are in our favor at this point.

2. Overall, Liberals/Progressives/Dems vote hope. Conservatives/Republicans vote fears
It is pretty much hardwired. For independents and undecideds, it is the acid test.

3. They may also vote their rage
At Bush, that is.
