California: Kerry 50% Bush 42%
John Kerry maintains a healthy lead in California leading 50-42 percent in the latest Rasmussen poll, taken after the convention. Their survey gave Kerry a nine-point edge just prior to the convention, so little ground was made in the Golden State by Bush. Now that the conventions are over I think we can expect Kerry's lead to expand and he should do at least as well as Gore did in 2000, winning by 11-points, if not more.

2. Kerry is fundraising but not
campaigning here. Doesn't need to. Chimp knows he has no chance here, thus we are spared his commercials. It's good to be a Californian.

3. Thank you, California. Now some of you move to Ohio
until Nov. 2nd.

5. Ohio's a little out of the way
But if we could get about 250,000 people to move to Arizona, and another 250,000 to move to Nevada, then we'd be in business. ;-)

8. That would be good - but I'm thinking of the 20 EV that
Ohio has. We need to win Ohio or Florida. What the hell, it's only for a month or so.

4. This is good news.
Even after Bush's convention, there seems to be little movement toward him.

It looks like the state is not in play. Of course if it was Bush would be spending money there.

7. Someone told Bush that Cali was in play in 2000
Then he got clobbered by over 1 million votes.

I think it's safe to say he's written it off.

6. So why is it showing up as "weak Kerry"
at www.electoral-vote.com? I know it changes from day to day, but that looks like a pretty strong lead to me! I am totally ignorant about how they do their calculations.

10. I think any state where the candidate has less than a 10% lead,
Edited on Sun Sep-05-04 08:01 PM by elperromagico
but more than a 4% lead, is defined as "weak" for the candidate.
