HELP! My husband doesn't trust early voting, What is the campaign saying?

I haven't heard much on that subject here in Florida. He feels there too much room for officials to tinker with early voting

in general, I do not know specifically about FL

2. they support early voting
Long lines are expected at many polling places and there is a substantial risk that potential voters will bail out because they have to get to work or have other commitments and can't afford to wait. The more people who vote early, the more manageable the lines.

3. It's ok.. It will free up the long lines on election day.. There are 11.3 million
registered voters now in FL.. 600,000 of them are new Dem voters that have been signed up (I'm pretty sure those people ARE voting for Obama--FL will be a landslide). If you vote early, then you have time to help out on election day or with knocing on doors or calling for Obama. In FL if you live in a D area, a lot of times there are problems.. not enough machines, not enough ballots, not enough anything..

This year, we have paper ballots.. you fill in the circle, you put the paper thru the opti-scan machine, the ballot is kept in a box.. If a county looks close, they can verify the vote. Go ahead, go vote, and if you have any problems.. There is a FL number to the Obama campaign.. go on his site, I'm sure its listed.

4. Emergency info at Steal Back Your Vote dot org

and www.velvetrevolution.us

Steal Back Your Vote has emergency info. How to cope when we think they'll be reusing lots of the old techniques they tried in 2004.

...they're confident that the ballots here in Wisconsin will be safe and secure.

6. Early voting is a Good Thing.
At least the way it's implemented in my state (Colorado), you still get to drop your ballot straight into a ballot box, even if it's a mail-in-ballot - you can deliver it yourself.

You get to do your homework on your votes at home, at your leisure, you can fill the ballot out at your leisure, you'll get shorter lines at the polls, and every person that votes early is one less person to lengthen the lines on Election Day.

23. We have that here in CA. I am permanent absentee so that I don't have to
worry about not getting to the polls in time because of late work, or whatever. I usually walk down to the senior center/polling place on election evening and drop the ballot in the box, but this time I went ahead and just put it in the mail today.

7. Early absentee in person
at least here in WI. I voted on October 7th. We have paper ballots, which are then processed (envelopes opened and ballots fed into optical scanner) on election day - a process that is open to observers. I like voting early in person, because then if there's any question about my registration or anything, there is time to resolve the problem before Election Day. It also frees me up to work at whatever polling places I'm most needed on Election Day.

So, here in WI, the campaign is encouraging voting early absentee - in fact John Kerry was here to lead a early vote rally earlier in the month. I don't know how the advice differs in FL (if it does).

8. We are going to vote early for just that reason...to free up a spot in the line
on election day. If this is going to be 1/2 as big as they think it is, election day is going to be a zoo.. and I do not want someone who would vote for us, having to give up and leave because of work constraints or child care issues.

A teeny tiny contribution, but one I hope helps. I love election day, I love being with my neighbors in the line, nearly all of us with cups of steamy coffee, just being together, I love election day.

But this is too too important, I will have coffee with the neighbors afterwards

10. VOTE EARLY!
It helps detect any problems before it's too late, and it appears that certain news groups are keeping tally's of state votes. That will help if there is a plan to steal the election by flipping votes once they are uploaded to the main database. Do it! Vote early!

11. yes - just saw where he was in Florida encouraging Floridians to vote early
http://www.examiner.com/r-2991196~Obama_in_Florida_to_Encourage_Early_Voting.html

They will have two attorneys at each precinct in Florida - I don't know if they are there during early voting though. Be sure to double check the machine to make sure it recorded your vote correctly at the end. If you have any problems - contact the Obama headquarters in you county.

13. The earlier the better, according to the campaign.
Everyone who votes is someone the campaign can remove from their list.

Get voted as soon as you can.

18. They tinker most effectively on election day.
Then, there is no time available to respond. For the early voting, things like vote caging, voter purges, and so on can be reported and responded to. And if the lines are too long today, there is always voting tomorrow.

As for tinkering with early ballots, the issue is that the methods they have of tinkering with ballots work as well on election day as in early voting.

20. EV is best, ABV is next, election day is last...
It is URGENT that you EARLY VOTE or ABSENTEE VOTE ASAP. IT IS PREFERABLE TO EARLY VOTE BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT CHECK YOUR BALLOT FOR ERRORS OR ID ISSUES UNTIL ELECTION DAY AFTER 7PM WHEN THEY COUNT THE BALLOTS AT WHICH POINT IT WILL BE TOO LATE TO FIX ANY PROBLEMS – THAT SAID, I’D RATHER YOU VOTED ABSENTEE THAN WAITED UNTIL ELECTION DAY AND THEN FAILED TO VOTE SO EITHER WAY GO VOTE NOW!

from my two other posts today..go read them.

you have to call someone to help and playing with switches.

25. Obama just gave a speech today saying to vote early
He said you don't know if something will come up like a family emergency, or your car suddenly dying on you (that's part of what he said in it, I only saw a brief couple second clip of it on the news).
