I've always been told that out of every "bad" thing there comes a "good" thing. To hear his quote about "all Americans needing good health care" from his hospital bed before surgery spoke volumes. For many of us, we struggle each day with "what if" something like this happens. How will we pay for it and who must die for not having good health care. Our premiums went up so high in my spouse's job that they dropped all health insurance. Thank-God for the state Medicaid program to help with our children's health care, however, we have NONE and we both need it desperately. We tried to take out a private policy and the insurance company determined the outcome of what the deductible was gonna be and how much we pay--and this was "supposedly" one of the decent companies--BC BS.
No one should have to worry about whether they will die if they get sick because of not being able to pay for their medical bills. Being faced with one's mortality is a HUGE wake-up call. This is a BIG, BIG, ISSUE for me and I hope Kerry continues to drive this home. I know Bill Clinton won't mind:)
