I call on Gov Dean to condemn these tactics
Please Gov Dean come out against these types of tactics your so-called supporters are using against General Clark.

Oh, I forgot, you already did when the shoe was on the other foot.

9. I think it's time for Dean to say Clark is not on my VP list.
This whole con---test is a tit for tat food fight and Clark is playing just as much as Lieberman. Joe just looks a little more stupid doing it. Of course Dean as the undisputed front runner is the main target.

There's no proof it is Dean supporters, furthermore, Puhleez I don't think Dean supporters would do that. It's too silly and obvious.

28. Dean supporters have
harassed Clark campaigners on the streets of NY, they are the only supporters of a candidate to heckle a candidate at the Florida Democratic Convention while giving his speech...CLARK and a car load of Dean supporters gave the finger to a Clark supporter when he was in NH putting up Clark signs. Those things are obvious too. They did this. Mark my word. I can't wait to hear them defend it when they see the flyer. I can't WAIT to hear the excuses.

Edited on Wed Jan-07-04 02:03 PM by mouse7
I'm sure Dean would love to go to freeperland and ask the freepers to stop stirring up crap in the the Democratic primaries, but RimJob would probably immediately delete anything Gov. Dean's posted and ban him within minutes.

18. First we must see proof
however from past experience it is not difficult to believe. When I see proof and if indeed it is from the Dean campaign I will send Clark 10 bucks. Also from past experience Gov. Dean will give a small apology when hardly anyone is listening and continue on with the disingenuous information. This is politics, down and dirty. Too bad he can't seem to "play fair and nice" but we will see, this does sound like Rove.

21. They already quoted false campaign org tags on other thread
Edited on Wed Jan-07-04 02:08 PM by mouse7
The fliers were quoted on the other thread as being tagged "Paid for by Howard Dean for Pres" and "Paid for by The Dean Campaign."

Anything official would be tagged "Paid for by Dean For America"

It's not the Clark campaign doing it for pity press. Clark's people aren't dumb enough to screw up the Dean for America tagline.

The only people who would go to this much troble and fuck up the job so bad are freepers.

26. You are probably
right about that. It is difficult for me to not immediately assume this is Dean because it is just more of the same but the time has come to really try to stay cool since the Republicans are now gearing up and will be out for all of them.

30. I haven't seen this flyer, but you are correct about the tag
Edited on Wed Jan-07-04 02:28 PM by eyesroll
I did a quick search of the FEC's records site:
"Dean for America" appears to be the only authorized committee supporting Howard Dean. (The only other committees with "Dean" in the name are for other candidates named Dean, a Dean Foods PAC, etc.)

"The Dean Campaign" does not exist, according to the FEC. "Howard Dean for Pres" does not exist.

The "Paid for" tag lists the name of the committee responsible for the publication. (It doesn't guarantee that it actually came from the committee -- I could type "Paid for by Dean for America" on my magazine masthead. It wouldn't make it true. But everything official coming from a campaign that took 10 minutes to read the rules will have a proper disclosure on it.)
Assuming the flyer does indeed say "paid for by The Dean Campaign," one of two things is happening:
1. An unauthorized, unregistered committee, either supporting Howard Dean or opposing Wes Clark, is doing the flyers.
2. Someone is trying to make Howard Dean look bad.

On edit: A third :tinfoilhat: possibility...Someone directly involved in Dean for America decided they really, really wanted that message spread, but got shot down by Trippi, et. al., put a fake tag on their flyer and it WAS really being paid for by DFA but they needed to cover their tracks somehow so they made it look just so awful that it HAD to be fake...

(Just covering my bases here...)
