So I got inspired to create my first Youtube video :)
I was watching Boston Legal the other night and I was inspired to hear Bob Dylan's tune "Times They Are A-Changin'" and so I put together a few of my favorite campaign photos to the song. The quality on youtube isn't so great, but I was trying to get some non bias input before I distribute it to all my friends :) The vid is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pehsS-mHILc and if anyone has a better hosting option let me know, the quality of the one on my computer is much better. I also know I am not an often poster, thats just my nature I guess. :) However I am too proud to remain silent now :)

10. Also..
Like I said I have a really good copy that looks much better than you tube if you want to send it out :) just send it out if you like it don't attribute it to anyone, I want people to know what just happened here in america. I don't think enough people understand that

2. Thanks for posting this--it's so cool!
Such an appropriate song--and what a great collection of pics from the campaign, many so intimate and revealing of his character and the emotion of this election. Really, a great job!

5. Thank-you
That's what moved me most, to tears, seriously over the past week, how human and and presidential he is, at the same time. The pictures just emphasize that. The worn out shoes, the empathy, sleeping on the couch, thought I might have gone to far with the baby kissing :)

9. I, for one, like adorable baby/Obama pictures.
Edited on Fri Nov-14-08 11:35 PM by vixengrl
I'm a sucker for them--he just seems to relate to children so naturally, which I've always seen as a sign of being a "good egg." Although small babies generally holler mercilessly when Aunt Vixen has a hold of them, so what do I know?

(Edit: my tongue got in the way of my eye-teeth and I couldn't see what I was typing!)

12. Hehe I wasn't...
I wasn't trying to be insulting at all :) I just thought president elect kissing babies maybe not the best image for my little friday night montage, but I thought it was a totally awesome picture which is why kept it, he is so genuine!

17. So happy--in the "tears of joy" kind of way!
I liked the music choice and everything but, you know--the very *last* picture! Although it did make for a interesting "compare/contrast"!

18. Very specific reason though
That last picture is the ideal from the campaign for me, he went out there in the rain and gave the speech no matter what, that was when I KNEW this was my president ;) he was for his people :)

20. It rained in PA on election day--and I knew we'd all come out for him anyway--
he came out in the rain for us--we'd do it for him! But I was talking about McCain's "lizardman" pose with the tongue--the very end. That might not be a cut into your video but part of the lead-ins to the other offerings on the site?--it has the "173 electoral votes" caption.

27. Dude, I'm sorry--we're twisted--the "last picture" I'm
talking about wasn't yours--it was in Captain Obvious' video--if you look at that video--there's a last scene with tongue-hanging out "dinosaur" McCain. Your last pic in your video doesn't look like the PA site, but it does depict Obama in a rainstorm--but no, it's inspiring. It's likely in part what brought out the VA people, too. Obama is just like that. I'm sorry I wasn't paying careful enough attention to my posting. My fault.

29. Very nice! If you're soliciting suggestions...

A couple shots of the megacrowds -- the sea of people effect -- especially gathered toward the end of the video, to give it that "building movement" impression. A few of the Europe shots would be good too. Also, one of the shots from the Wailing Wall would add a nice poignance.

The toughest suggestion -- an effect that requires work -- would be to start a megacrowd shot zoomed in on Obama and slowly pull back until he's a dot in the mass gathering. Extra points if you could mix in one "We are the change we seek" or similar quote during a break in the lyrics, and one or two crowd cheers during another break.

It's great as it is, of course. Thanks for posting it. I wasn't sure whether you wanted suggestions or just a final approval.

PS I have no experience with this sort of thing, so you can feel good about blowing off my suggestions.

30. Thanks!
No, I really did want suggestions, I think more shots of the crowds are a great idea. The effect shot might be tough for me, like I said this was just a Friday night project, but I think it is a great idea and I wonder if iPhoto can do it. There is a great blog out there now of videos, if you haven't seen it (http://countdowntovictory.blogspot.com/) that shows exactly what you are asking for :) If I could edit video I would have an interlude of all the 3-2-1 moments in the middle :)
