Let's play insta-expert, DU! This week's edition--cabinet appointments!
First let's all establish our bona fides. Obviously we are all serious people, knowledgeable and aware of the manifold possibilities for both catastrophic error and ultimate triumph in cabinet selection. The greatest insta-experts naturally consider speculative appointees in those polar extremes--any appointment will be seen by them either as superlatively excellent or as the most desperate failure. The mealy-mouthed in-between "well there are good points and bad points" view need hardly be bothered with, no? Those who consider all sides of the issue in a moderate frame of mind? Those who are cautious in passing judgment and think of the future? Obviously cowards, who lack conviction and are totally unsuited for action--their pretense of uncertainty and unwillingness to pass instant judgment is clear evidence of craven ignorance or lack of conviction. It is those who claim absolute certainty on the issue whose insta-expertise can best be trusted.

Now that we have that out of the way, let's prove once and for all how informed and insightful we are! Think carefully of which administration in recent history you consider to be the best. Got it? Now:

1. Name the entire cabinet.

2. Recount the consensus contemporary opinion concerning each member, both at the start and end of his/her service.

3. Recount the consensus historical opinion concerning each member's service.

4. List all the major issues in which each member had a decisive impact.

5. On which issues did each member have a positive impact? On which did they have a negative impact?

6. Now, describe in exact detail how each member either contributed to or detracted from the administration's more general success.

Finished? Answered every question honestly and fully? No trips to wikipedia? Congratulations! I'll assume any who talk in a pompous, self-assured, supremely confident manner about cabinet speculation are included in this group of fully-informed winners. All those who speak with much qualification, doubt, and respect for the capaicity for error in prejudice--I assume you completely failed this test, and know nothing. Aren't you utterly ashamed that you even ventured to state your craven, moderate opinions? Your calls for patience and complete consideration of the issues from all sides?

I thought so.

:dunce:
