Unlike most journalists, Dan Rather can do whatever he pleases. He is independently wealthy; he has no toadying to do to get a career established; they can't fire him because he is an institution with the public. All it took was for him to get into a story where he found himself and the truth on one side and Rove, Murdoch, et cl., on the other. I hope that he will not decide that fighting this battle is more trouble than it's worth. And if he has his bosses on his side, more power to them all.

Everyone knows or assumes Bush* got preferential treatment just as many Democrat's children did. what is important and we should get off it is ...Did Bush* disobey a Direct Order to take a Required Flight Physical and if so why? Bush* signed paperwork saying he would complete his duty and that duty became being a "Fighter Pilot" Bush* quit and did not fulfill his duty. The state of Texas spent a half million dollars training Bush* and as soon as the training was over he Quit . Should he have to repay the state of Texas the money wasted on his training? Legitimate questions have been raised, supported by official documents the Whitehouse has released. Bush* needs to answer those questions.
