Rumor has it that Sen. Hillary Clinton is being considered for a cabinet position, possibly that of Secretary of State. There seems to be 3 leading candidates being considered: Bill Richardson, John Kerry and Hillary Clinton (in order of time of rumor inception).

Persusal of impartial summaries of the candidate records at links below suggests that all are well qualified, but Hillary Clinton has the thinnest resume of expertize and experiences in the Foreign Policy arena. Many subjective relationship and team-effectiveness factors contribute to a decision regarding this level of appointment.

It creates a good synergy. Hillary is thought of as a world class talent by international players. They once believed she would be our next President. Obama appointing Clinton as SoS sends a strong signal to the world that his administration will take international relations very seriously and his Secretary of State will always be listened too closely. Obama isn't threatened by Hillary. He is strengthened by having people of her perceived caliber on his team and the world knows it.
