6. They're the middle of the pile posts to fill.
I have to admit that I work at one of these agencies, so whoever he chooses as Secretary will be quite interesting. I'm really hoping that their first order of business (after confirmation) is a massive overhaul of the Department 'cause the good 'ol boy era has got to end! In short, there are a LOT of people in higher grade positions who should think long and hard about the way they've been doing business for the last 8 years. I know a few of them that should've left years ago 'cause they're in a 21st century office and still using an 8-track mission statement. That makes it very hard for others to come in (in my case, getting out of the lower grade pool) and share new ideas and streamline the way various divisions and offices should be run. Well, we waited this long to get a new President so I can wait a little while longer for the confirmation process to take place.

9. I consider Commerce, Energy, Education and Interior to be deadly serious.....
even transportation....especially if we are to do the Green economy. New grid, and infractured projects are going to be much more important than they have been, as is commerce...considering the economy.

So, I believe that most if not all of the cabinet position are very important....more so than ever before, perhaps.

7. i'm disappointed Wes Clark has not been mentioned for a position
It would be nice to see him in energy or transportation, given his interest in renewable energy sources.
And 1 year from now, he can take over when Gates leaves.

8. Obama might be saving him for SOD when Gates is said to be leaving
in 2010, when Wes becomes eligible for the position.

I don't think that the Energy Secretary position needs to be a transient type of a position.....too serious, IMO.
