1. You don't know what the Bushies will do
Edited on Tue Dec-02-08 02:40 PM by butlerd
His recent talk about creating a "shadow government" suggests that he is perhaps seeking more of a national platform. I do wonder why Martinez chose not to run again after serving only 1 term? :tinfoilhat:

2. this is off topic but
I really love that you, a young person at 18 are so informed and interested in what's going on in the world. My son is 20 and while he knows the main characters in government, he's not as involved and interested as I would like him to be. You are a great kid...I'm 42 so you're still a kid to me!

3. What America is looking for is another Bush in office.
Maybe they can "win" again in Florida, maybe not.

But their brand name is highly damaged.

6. Jeb is more popular than W in Florida, but hopefully not enough to win.

9. I was going to say that that isn't saying much.
Dubya is less popular than Lincoln was, during the Civil War, ...in the South.

7. True
But I thought that Jeb was always considered to be "the smart one"? Do any Florida DUers know what is general popularity level was when he left office? Did the whole Schiavo situation hurt him like it ended up hurting GWB, et. al? There could conceivably be enough support left in Florida for him to run for Senate but OTOH Florida amazingly ended up going for Obama this year and Governor Crist, while a Republican, certainly appears to be much more moderate than Jeb, so..........?

8. I've heard he's still very popular in Fl. so I suspect he's got his eye on
that job. I seriously doubt any Bush would be able to win in a national election until most of the people from this generation have died!

20. GOP pundits never get sick of saying that, but...
I haven't seen any recent polls on Jeb's popularity, and I think they're just assuming he's as popular now as he was when he was governor, which is a huge mistake.

Or, are there that many Floridians who are still taking stupid pills?

19. There's enough stupid here to make it a race.
It would depend on who the Democrats put up against him.

That said, I think Jeb and the GOP in general hugely overestimated his popularity here. Every time I here Joe Scarborough reiterate how popular Jeb is in Florida, I can't help but snicker. Really, I'd be more scared of a Crist run than a Jeb run.

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/palmbeach/floridapolitics/entries/2008/12/02/jeb_considering_senate.html
Former Gov. Jeb Bush is considering entering the race for U.S. Senate, a source close to the Republican said this afternoon.

17. If that's the case, then take this as a warning about election box vunerabilities.
Edited on Tue Dec-02-08 04:54 PM by political_Dem
More than ever, electoral reform must be worked on. Secondly, the Dems have to work very hard to keep Florida blue. The first move must be running early advertising tying Jeb Bush with Katherine Harris over the 2000 election scandal. The crookedness of that entire affair must not be forgotten.

We don't need the Bushes in power. Even they can see what damage their policies have had upon the American people. I know that they did not miss the world-wide cheering when Mr. Obama was voted into office.

Nobody likes them. When the elder Bush held office, he was detested. And of course, when * took over as President of the United States, he broke the mold in terms of national and global repulsion.

18. It'll probably be either him or Crist on the Republican side.
Dan Gelber, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Alex Sink or Kathy Castor on the Democratic side.
