On Wednesday, Barack Obama addressed Bill Richardson's shaven beard, stating "It was a mistake for him to get rid of it. I thought that whole Western rugged look was really working for him....we're deeply disappointed with the loss."

But perhaps the disappointment was more personal than the president-elect let on. In a September 20, 2006 article in The Hill about how voters prefer politicians to be clean-shaven, Obama told reporter Betsy Rothstein "I can't grow facial hair... I get whiskers."

Including myself. I just get whiskers, like Barack. The facial hair grows in very uneven and doesn't look well when it's grown out, so we just keep clean. That's why you're more apt to see white men with beards as opposed to black men. Kimbo Slice is a whole other story. :o

Africans do not have a lot of body hair, for obvious reasons.

Him being bi-racial, he could have gone either way, or landed in the middle somewhere, as White folks tend to be Hairier, for obvious reasons.

One can look at his arms and chest (those photos in Hawaii) and tell that he is not hairy.

That means he doesn't have to shave but his upper lip and his chin...nor does he has to cut or wax his chest hairs, which is something a lot of men (especially younger men who work out) do these days.

Means he's low maintenance. :)
