OK, I have a prediction to make, hear me out

PS. If the Democrats won't support the UAW and the loans to the big three, what will happen if the Unions don't support the Democrats in 2010 and 2012?

$400,000,000 and thousands of volunteers got Barack and these sleazebags elected.

with an added comment to attempt to generate more response?

in a twisted sort of way, i am proof you have succeeded...

2. I understand your position and I support the unions too, but I also
have a few problems with granting all three auto makers the loans they're requesting.

1. Ford has a very strange way of asking for money. I just heard it AGAIN this AM that they don't see a problem with liquidity in the forseeable future, but are asking for a "line of credit" just in case! That sounds like a silly commitment of $$ to me.

2. Chrysler keeps talking about wanting to be sold! Isn't that an admission that they can't be a viable company and they're only looking for $$ now to hold them over until a sale? Is THAT a good use of our money?

3. GM seems to be the one in serious trouble. I haven't heard the details of their business plan, but without replacing the executives of GM, who seem to have a flawed mindset, I'm nott convinced that the bridge loan will save them.

5. Seems to make the case for government or employee take-over

...with the mission of higher cafe standards and many more electric & hybrid cars. People probably won't be buying cars (in any meaningful number) for a couple of years. Retool under new leadership. People working (means paying their mortgage, paying taxes, being consumers) while Obama's plan to put people to work focusing on green energy and the infrastructure.

6. I don't give a shit what the end result is as long as they support the Big 3, period
WE helped put them in office. NOT helping them (the Big 3) is a slap in the face to the UAW and Unions in general. And woe is them if the Unions that backed them decide to turn their backs on their re-election campaigns in 2-4 years.

7. Support the Big 3? Hell, no.
Support the EMPLOYEES of the Big 3 and their ancillary companies? Yes. That's why we need to force a restructuring and reinvention of the companies as part of a bailout.
