Heads up-SNL tonight will have a skit with (the fake) Bill and Hillary Clinton
Edited on Sat Dec-06-08 11:23 PM by jenmito
They just showed it on the 11 o'clock news-"Bill and Hillary" (Darrell Hammond and Amy Poeler) said something like, "You thought we were going away, didn't you? Well, we're NEVER going away!" :D

5. She missed the opportunity for a great laugh line
When she asked if her job was better than being governor of Alaska, she should have said "You betcha" instead of just "yes." Great seeing her again, though.

I was disappointed she didn't.

20. Yeah. I liked it. For once, they based a skit on something TRUE about him.
That's when it's funny-it has to be based on the truth.

They established his persona and how people will view him for the next four years. Very cool.

16. The show's actually been pretty good so far
That skit with Kristen Wigg and Malkovich at the birthday party was pretty funny and that Barack "cool" thing was good, too. I think Fred Armison is doing better than he used to -- he has some of Barack's intonation down pat, but could still use some work.

23. I really wish they'd find a black actor to play Obama.... the blackface thing still bothers me....
Edited on Sun Dec-07-08 12:04 AM by RollWithIt
It's not that Fred is doing a bad job, it's just weird to see a white guy play Obama for so long.

QUICK EDIT: I understand that Obama is also half white, and the idea of having a white actor with some makeup playing him is not a problem. It just seems weird.

25. I just wish they'd get a better impersonator. Darrell Hammond does a GREAT Jesse Jackson
and I don't think it's a problem about dressing/having makeup to look the part. It's not done in an insulting/mocking way.

27. Who else in the cast could do it? I can't think of anyone. Fred's doing okay, he's getting better
all the time. I just can't see SNL suddenly switching to someone else, it would be kind of weird. Once a cast member starts "doing" someone, they never switch it to someone else unless the original cast member leaves the show altogether.

28. I mean I wish they'd find a new person and MAKE him a cast member-
I don't want them to use anyone else already on the show. Fred's the best they have NOW, but at one time they were supposedly going to look for someone to impersonate Obama. They have better Obamas on Jay Leno and Mad TV. And they're both Black.

he'd be a definite improvement over Fred Armisten. And the Jay Leno one has Obama's speech pattern down pat.
