. . .I think it shows the GOP is not acting in good faith and they need to be called out over it.

Document as read by Ron Gettledinger UAW President.

He noted that the "from" and the "to" were deleted when it was passed along to the UAW:

It was titled "Action Alert: Auto Bailout"

Dated Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 9:12 AM

"Today at noon, Senators Ensign, Shelby, Colburn and Demit will hold a press conference in the Senate Radio/TV Gallery. They would appreciate our support through messaging and attending the press conference if possible. The message they want us to deliver is:

1) This is the Democrats first opportunity to payoff organized labor after the election. This is a precursor to card check and other items. Republicans should stand firm and take their first shot against organized labor instead of taking their first blow from it.

2) This rush to judgment is the same that happened with the TARP. Members do not have an opportunity to read or digest the legislation and therefore could not understand the consequences of it. We should not rush to pass this because Detroit says the sky is falling.

The sooner you can have press releases and documents like this in the hands of members and the press the better.

Please contact me if you need additional information. Again the hardest thing for the Democrats to do is get 60 votes. If we can hold the Republicans we can beat this."

End of e-mail

2. Gettlefinger of the UAW
just read the Repuke memo on the air on CNN and blatantly called the right Senators on their Union busting asses.

What I love is they are the bad guys in this and most people will blame these guys if this goes REEALLY bad.

15. The email said in essence...
That this bailout is the first gift from the Obama admin to pay back the unions and the other Repubs should rally to submarine the deal to make a preemptive strike against organized labor.

It was a petty and mean spirited plea that undermines any fiscal responsibility in the decision to nix the loans.

9. I could only find a portion, here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/justinwebb/2008/12/republicans_vs_unions.html

snip//

This line is from one of the Republican party talking points being circulated in Washington:

"This is the Democrats' first opportunity to pay off organised labour after the election. This is a precursor to card-check and other items. Republicans should stand firm and take their first shot against organised labour, instead of taking their first blow from it."

The memo avoids addressing the millions of jobs the UAW (and the companies) say will be lost if the money is not forthcoming - but the union is in the spotlight now and things are not going to be pretty.

27. GOP hatred of organized labor is almost cosmic in its scope.
They always need someone to hate. It's the party of opposition and that's all it has to define itself.

And in case you are wondering; I hate Harry Reid.

25. Reid is "reaching across the aisle"....
...in a spirit of "post-partisanship" to reach a "Pragmatic Centrist Consensus" on how to best destroy those who Work for a Living.
Thank You to all those "Pragmatic Centrists".

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans. I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans, family farmers, and people who haven't felt the benefits of the economic upturn."---Paul Wellstone

32. I think Reid...
...is giving more of the reach-around to his distinguished Republican colleagues rather than reaching across the aisle! Like Pelosi, this fool is about as superfluous as a goiter. It is such a pity that there are so few Wellstones in our party and that the ones we have are laughed at.

Sidebar: How can Minnesotans go from Wellstone to Coleman? I know he was initially appointed but I don't understand the problem now.
