Is there a legal defense fund set up for the shoe thrower
Edited on Sun Dec-14-08 09:30 PM by thunder rising
I think if there is any way to show that we REALLY don't think ill of him (in fact, he's a hero), is to set up or contribute to his defense fund. I can't believe shoe throwing is a terrorist activity, so we shouldn't get extraordinarily renditioned.

No I'm not .... when did we turn into Freeperland? We're supposed to be the good guys? When did we start advocating violence no matter what the provocation?

Would Barack throw his shoe at someone?

Would Michelle?

Did Martin?

Did Ghandi?

See where I'm goin' with this?

We gotta be the cream .... keep on rising.

I'm certainly not calling the guy a terrorist and I appreciate the sentiment, but violence is never the answer .... be it an air strike ..... or a shoe.

You wanna throw your shoe at an EFFIGY of Bush .... that's one thing ..... but to throw it at another human being knowing it could possibly cause him physical harm ..... that makes us no better than him.

9. Oh plzzzzz! OP simply suggested legal fund, not advocating violence
Gee! You seem quick to judge for someone who pretends to advocate non-violence!

12. lol, I'm sorry, I didn't realize "violence" and "judging" were synonyms,
Edited on Sun Dec-14-08 10:10 PM by Clio the Leo
You're cute.

When we start acting like wingnuts, i'm gonna start whining.

The OP said they regard the dude as a hero and while I respect the OP, I disagree with that sentiment. I dont find violence heroic no matter who it's directed toward.

We're Democrats and we're better than this. ;)

15. The guy snapped and after all he's been through....
Edited on Sun Dec-14-08 11:43 PM by hlthe2b
to support his legal defense is hardly the "Freeper-like comparison" nor condoning of "violence" that you purport. How damned ridiculous-- what misplaced sanctimony....

WE are all ultimately responsible for what has happened to this poor man and his country men and women. Perhaps if you stopped wagging your finger for just one moment, you would see that and extend a bit of compassion.

16. Do you think it's wise to wag your finger at me ....
Edited on Mon Dec-15-08 02:21 AM by Clio the Leo
.... while you're tellin' me to stop waggin' my finger? You're gonna tear a hole in the Universe that way! :)

But on a serious note .... that's that whole "two wrongs sometimes make a right" theory which I have never subscribed to. Never have, never will.

Lemme try one more time ..... (squinting my eyes really hard and clinching my fists) ..... nope, I cant do it.

Sorry. (I really DID try ... I swear I did.)

And while I have your attention ..... where exactly is it best to place sanctimony?

I'm guessing not in my shoe .... in case I need to throw it at someone. It may fall out. :-p

4. For a "legal defense fund" to be of any use there has to be a trial...
I wouldn't be counting on THAT....

I think he's gonna be flying CIA Airlines to Club Guantanamo for an extended vacation...

10. I'm seriously worried about him.
His was a very brave act. Most of us are treating it like a pie-in-the-face joke, but I don't think he saw it as a joke.

I hope that they don't make an "example" of him. We're still not out of Iraq, and Bush still has control.

Whether or not he planned the act, it was still brave.

14. Me 2, I pray for the guys life. It sounds like shoe throwing at a bad politician is common in the...
...mid east as a show of disdain but to us it looks like an attack.
