I'm torn on which camp on GDP is more over the top:
Edited on Sun Dec-21-08 06:11 PM by Bicoastal
Those who believe that any criticism of Barack Obama is tantamount to declaring war on him...

OR...

Those who now ARE seemingly declaring war on him.

You're all nucking futs and I'm staying away from here until after the Inauguration.

2. I don't think criticism is declaring war on him
I just think we are picking the wrong issue to get all worked up about. I'm saving my fire for when he lets me down on policy decisions that affect people's lives, rather than something that no matter how offensive it might be to some people is at the end of the day purely symbolic. And I agree, there are some people who are over the top with their criticism and a few people who are over the top shouting down any criticism.

18. Ermm.. this issue on human rights DOES affect human lives..
very much so.. in so many ways.

First, there is the affect that full human
rights and protections would have on those
who continually live in fear, do actually
get beaten up and killed, and who do not
benefit from being free to express who they
really are or to express their full humanity
in every way possible.

If you think I'm just talking about homosexuals,
you would be wrong. The homosexual issue is on
the front burner right now, but you must know
that many people from other targeted groups
suffer diminished quality of life and limitations
as well.. including people of color, women,
children, blue collar workers, immigrants, etc...

The issue of the economy is one of vicious class
warfare that subsists on keeping groups of people
oppressed and divided.

Thus, any time an issue of human and civil rights
comes up, it is extremely important to give it its
full expression.. no matter what.

United we stand, divided we fall.

One for all and all for one.

every single concern the GLBT community here expresses about either the Democratic Party or Obama. And they use the most offensive language possible.

8. That's it exactly
It is possible to criticize a persons actions and see some nuance in the situation. Unfortunately, it seems that some around here don't think gays and lesbians have a right to be upset or discuss it. It all seems to be coded 'shut up faggots' around here.

14. The vast majority
of people on this site are not telling you or any gay people to shut up. How much discussing can there be on a topic before the horse has been beaten to death?

No one likes the Warren pick. I have seen people trying to explain it but like it? I don't think so.

If there are people who actually say you do not have a right to voice your opinion, alert on them. That's what the moderators are for...

Obama for it. Others even claimed that calling Warren a bigot, or a homophobe, is bigoted or intolerant itself.

21. Insulting me
isn't very nice. I said that I haven't seen a lot of any kind of attack on gay people here. The one example given upthread does not surprise me - but that person will argue with anyone about anything... He loves himself a flamewar... It's what he does. I am not trying to dismiss the person - it bugs me. He walks close to the line.

As someone who absolutely supports gay and lesbian rights - I feel offended by your assertion that I would have to be gay to see obvious injustice. I have seen a lot of craziness here and sometimes I just do not see a particular thread. Some of the more offensive people are on my ignore list and I never see their threads at all. I block them because it bugs me too much.

If you don't know where I stand.

But I am vehemently opposed to stupidity. You can quote me on that. And the tiny minority of DUers (who, frankly, I don't even think are GLBT DUers but some sort of Manchurian candidate trolls) are behaving stupidly.

Your ignorance is not my problem.

29. We haven't started secret banning list yet or...
Creating seperate websites for attacks on each other only to have our plans foiled by a troll in the other camp.

We aren't going to other sites to spy on the opposition to see what they posted and than posting it here.

We aren't having celebration threads when someone who has posted here for a while goes off the rails and has to be tombstoned. We aren't spying on those people after they have been tombstoned on other sites to see what they are up to...etc. etc. etc.

In craziness level this is a 3 out of 10.

I spent my first 3 months on here being called a sexist knuckle dragger.

I guess I'll spend the next 3 being called a traitor to the party and someone who wants Barack to fail or some other bullshit I've been called in the past 3 days.

Well if any of the spies are out there I post in the comments sections to letters of the editor for Mcall.com my local newspaper to make your life easier...however my opinions on local issues probably aren't going to be that incediary over here.

31. My two cents...
I'm worried that some DUers think that in posting we somehow affect change, as if posting here qualifies as some sort of protest. If you want to change the Warren pick, post here and something will happen, if it doesn't, the system is broken and we're doomed. :sarcasm: Here's a noble idea: Instead of whining, because both sides are doing just that by now, go out and do something about it. You know... outside... in the real world.
