Theme of the Inaugural Address, "We're In This Together"
Edited on Fri Dec-26-08 11:24 AM by Clio the Leo
This whole W*rren mess got me thinking .... I remembered Barack telling Barbara Walters what one of the themes of his Inaugural address would be. Not able to remember what he said, I found the clip. Surprise, surprise....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jH4oQAbxFBM&feature=channel_page

It further explains the Warren pick. Granted, that doesn't mean anyone here has to LIKE the choice more, but it kind of explains a little more what's going on in Barack's head.

I suspect putting a superfamous fundie up on the dais may also be a counterbalance to the poet he's selected. Elizabeth Alexander is very talented, but she aint no Robert Frost. One of her writings starts off like this.....

Neonatology

Is
funky, is
leaky, is
a soggy, bloody crotch, is
sharp jets of breast milk shot straight across the room,
is gaudy, mustard-colored poop, is
postpartum tears that soak the baby’s lovely head.

Then everything dries and disappears
Then everything dries and disappears

(rest of it http://www.elizabethalexander.net/poems.html#N )

*I* can see the art for what it is and I'm sure all of you can too ... you're average voter? Hmmm ... not so sure. While Elizabeth Alexander's selection for Inauguration day will no doubt be a little more main-stream, there will no doubt be attention by the media for her other writing. (which you can read here... http://www.elizabethalexander.net/poems.html )

So putting the Bible thumper up for two minutes helps soften the blow of the "weird poetry lady" who no doubt is more along the lines of Barack's philosophy on life and the world in general.

Thoughts?

Now that we've got that out of the way, everyone take your shoes off and dance with me! (this link is gonna get broken, so you're gonna have to copy and paste)

1. Very plausible
But I don't think the rationale is gonna fly with many folks around here.

Attitudes have hardened to the point where motivation is meaningless. If this were the most Machiavellian plot by Obama to make a fool of Warren in a very public setting, it would still not compensate for his having selected him in the first place.
