Rec. and kick if you are still THRILLED that Obama got elected
I, for one, do not expect Obama to be perfect. I expect him to make mistakes. I expect to disagree with some (maybe even many) of the things he does.

Yet, after 8 LONG years of Bush, Cheney, neo-con, Scooter Libby, the totally fucked-up GWOT, GITMO, etc., ... I am THRILLED that Obama will be sworn in on Jan. 20.

DISAPPOINTED in him at best now...obama has realized the WORSE of our fears about him that started with mcglurkin (and the misspelling is purposeful)...he has exceeded our LOW expectatations of him - that's for sure...and it only seems to get WORSE...

obama has a LOT of work to do to BEGIN to dig himself out of the shit HE HIMSELF brought on...

sorry if we all won't be dancing along with the "approved" gays in the parade...

and don't give us the bullshit of "well go vote for mcInsane palin if..." - voting for obama was a choice ALL of us never thought twice about given the alternatives...

16. I think we are in the 'crash and burn'...
phase of our country. It's pretty obvious that Obama is responsible as the end all be all, to the plethora of problems we face. Not looking good for the 'bottom up change', that I could believe in. There is a religious belief that one person..can accomplish all the 'change' people wish to see. Funny how many atheists believe in this fairy tale.

Edited on Sat Dec-27-08 12:49 PM by BlancheSplanchnik
(yeah I said pouting...sorry, I know it's loaded, and I know you won't be able to hear anything else I say now, but......)

If you think Obama is the sole savior, responsible to handle everything you want done....sorry. We're supposed to be grownups too....

Do you whiners think we women are thrilled about Warren's save the fetus, kill the woman ideology? Abortion rights are life or death....

But I think THIS administration will be capable of hearing the will of the people, so instead of stamping your fists and shaking your feet because you got slapped in the face, DO WHAT YOU, AS A PROGRESSIVE, DO BEST---- SUPPORT the causes, groups, people, letter-writing, whatever suits you, that leads to CHANGE!

I gave a substantial donation to Planned Parenthood. If there was clinic near me, I would be an escort or donate sign language interpreting.... (dammit, the only clinic is three hours from here...)

oh, and PS, I am bi, just in case you're thinking I'm a clueless hetero.

For the first time in eight years we will have a President

responsibility of his office.

It will be nice to have a President who cares about
people and doesn't place profits before them.

Big :kick: and R, here.

I do not blast him with all I've got when he does such obvious and duplicitous mistakes as say FISA, Warren, Rahm etc, I'll rec this post. After these mistake though it is more that I am thrilled that * is now destined for the trash heap of history. Keeping these faults forever in my mind I anticipate O will do many good things and for those I am anticipating being thrilled in high c with much vibrato, as long as the unforgivable disappointments do not keep rolling out. Above and overall and in the big picture I have a badly damaged measure of thrill which I am now expecting to be a roller coaster ride of very high, for which I will cheer at the top of my lungs, to the very low for which my thunder and lightning will be felt.

I can hardly wait until our President is sworn in.After 8 long hellish years we will FINALLY have a President again. This has been the longest 8 years in my lifetime. I cried on election night,I was so happy and relieved and seeing all those other people crying, some down on their knees, they were so happy and in almost disbelief.I will never forget that night and I'm happy to K&R. :hi:

he promised to UNITE
he promised to REACH ACROSS THE AISLE
give him a flipping chance... allow that he will COMPROMISE on some issues---> that IS what reaching across the aisle MEANS !!!
we have MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES than if he swears in on a borrowed KORAN from ABE LINCOLN, and who blah blah blah.....

105. totally!
I don't expect to agree with everything he says or does.

But based on what I witnessed over the campaign, I expect that he has a strategy and a plan to get all of us where we need to be. And that what seems at first glance to be a slap in the face will turn out to be anything but.

Sorry to some who seem to be particularly vocal and taking up bucketloads of space these days, but I doubt there will be instant gratification for ANY special interest group.

We had 8 years of shit shoved down our throats, and after that it is natural to want to shove even more shit down "their" throats. I know that as a woman, even though she wasn't my first or even 2nd choice, I would have loved to have shoved Hillary so far down their throats that she was waving out their butts for the next 8 years.

But that would have just kept the shoving match going. I think there is a better path, with deeper, longer lasting and ultimately more positive results, and I suspect Obama will be superb at navigating and leading us down that very tricky path.

126. Additionally, I am RELIEVED and REFRESHED and EXCITED
we are finally going to see a change in the Executive Office.

And we have to understand it took 8 years to make this mess Obama inherited, so it will take at least one term to make any headway...

Though I wonder if the previous administration will be trying to mess things up after they leave DC....

and hopeful -- but not overly optimistic -- that the world will be set

right again by the Democratic Party.

We have not only 8 years to make amends for but a world of violence in

simply the last 50 years to account for and amend....

and much before that -- genocide and slavery -- oppression of women continues

on; homosexuals.

132. I agree
I wasn't Obama's biggest fan, but he's going to be lightyears better than George Bush. From what he has said so far about fighthing climate change and a stimulous package, I"m pretty happy he's going to be president. I just wish the negative critics would give him a change to actually do something before they attack him. So many things have been blown out of proportion.

I was worried that people expected Obama to be too perfect and that's what happened. He's a human like anyone else and he'll make mistakes. Luckily a lot of people know that. I only worry about the ones who don't. The next four years are going to be very hard -- Obama needs the benefit fo the doubt.
