What is the deal with GD Presidential?
This place is becoming a joke? Some here are actually working with the Obama team to find solutions for this country's problems. It is a waste of time to have to sort through the crap that gets posted in this forum in hope of finding something of 'presidential' value. To some it is just a bucket of laughs but hey if this is going to be the ninth grade around here 24/7 then the entire site is going to become a joke. When we have chased off everyone who is trying to be part of the solution then that will be just about perfect. To be clear I am NOTt taking about the Warren threads.

5. Go to the General Discussion: Presidential page and run down the list
Most of the posts have nothing to do with Obama. Why have GD/P if it is going to be GD or even GD Lounge at times. Examples....
Proud *hit stirrer for Civil Rights
Your best and worst senators
Why is Israel being such an *ss
David Gregory is an *ss

It goes on and on? These and many more will fit nicely over in GD. Some need to be in the lounge but even there one would have to wonder. Peace, Kim

9. The mods have their hands full...
Lots of infighting and disrespect are, I think, taking time away from regulating proper placement of posts.

Limited number of volunteer mods, lots to do, or DU.

10. Absolutely right, peace
The reason why is easy. Look at the number of views on GD:P vs. GD. People post over here because it has a better shot at being read. No one likes to see their post sink. Once Obama is in office, I'm willing to bet things will start evening out.

12. Well.... I'd say any reasonable person would have to agree
That David Gregory is an ass. Or a douchebag, as I usually refer to him.

22. Then put the *amn post in the proper forum.
People are still trying to accomplish something here. Go to the *sswipe forum and yuck it up!

3. Sad fact is that some people are just negative.
They always have to find something to dislike and rail against.

7. Maybe.
We need to focus on what each of us is doing to make this administration successful so we don't have to live another year like the last eight.

11. "...make this administration successful..."
That wouldn't be very underground.

DU will be unrecognizable in a few more months.

20. It is unrecognizable now,
There is so much work to be done and for the most part this has become a group specialized in dramatic anger. There is pain all around in each of our lives but we can make things better by working together. Obama didn't just magically win the presidency. Unfortunately we have little volunteering here anymore.

8. This is absolutely true.
And it's a real shame. Remove the common enemy and we turn on each other.

Growing pains for DU, we've never had a dem in charge.

6. What I do...
First, I keep my expectations reasonable, the moderators are volunteers and while many threads should be re-located to GD or the lounge, it may just be too much work.

Second, I usually sort by time of post instead of last reply. It let's me chime in early and keeps me from seeing the same stupid threads over and over if they're getting lots of attention.

Third, though I never use it, the hide thread function is almost like having the power of a moderator to make threads disappear.

:hi:

14. There should be TWO departments -- ONE : The Obama Administration and TWO: GD: Politics
Then there would be a place for all the NON-Obama Admin political discussion and a place for stuff specifically addressing the Obama Administration. A good time to make the shift would be around the end of Jan, just as the inaugural festivities end

21. We spent yesterday at a frickin' house party for health care.
Four hours of trying to get nine people's ideas about how to get this country on viable national health care. It was a great session. Good ideas. Now if those happen across the country and the Obama folks read the reports that would be nice. Where do we stop caring? Why did we work our butts off to get this guy in office? Obama said that this would not happen without the input of Americans and I can believe that. I drove two and a half hours to get to the meeting because I wanted to see how they were ran before having one here. We will have house parties as often as we can to say that we actually tried to be heard. Peace, Kim

I didn't mean to sound belittling. But I think GD-P has different purposes for everyone. That's all. I come here to get news and to enjoy conversations.

24. That's OK.
I come here for the news as well. I don't mind fun either but we have so many forums and very little place for people to do the business that needs to be done. I don't think that all of us have to be out stumping but it would be nice to have GD-P be more informational. Peace, Kim

GD:P

This is where all the immaturity seems to gather. Rather sad since Obama himself seems so mature.
