In this case, you are the one who must not have checked the existing posts on this. It has been 'breaking' for several hours, others have posted without bothering to check for duplicate threads, and it is already on the Greatest Page.

In addition, your title is incorrect because someone cannot resign a position they do not have yet. He removed his name as the nominee for Senate confirmation. Resignation would apply only after he was confirmed by the Senate.
