Bobby Rush is a transparent race-baiting hypocrite with Blago's endorsement of Roland Burris
Edited on Sun Jan-04-09 04:51 PM by zulchzulu
I'm sure many people saw Bobby Rush speaking about Roland Burris, who Rod Blagojevich had appointed. He blatantly used the Race Card in his endorsement of Blagojevich's endorsement:

My prayers have been answered, because I prayed fervidly that the governor would continue the legacy established by President-elect Obama and that the governor would appoint an African-American to complete the term of President Obama.

Let me just remind you that there presently no African American in the U.S. Senate. We need to have not just one African American in the U.S. Senate. We need to have many African Americans in the U.S. Senate. This is a matter of national importance. There are no African Americans in the Senate. And I don't think that anyone, any U.S. senator who's sitting in the Senate, right now, want to go on record to deny one African American from being seated in the U.S. Senate.

Rewind back to where Bobby Rush was endorsing a RICH WHITE MILLIONAIRE over a black man (Barack Obama) running for the Senate on July 21, 2003:

I love (Obama), but I'm supporting someone who I think would be an excellent U.S. senator....We were both raised in working-class families, we both served our country in the U.S. Army, we were both educated under the G.I. Bill, and we are both, you might say, products of the American dream. We're both self-made and independent men.

More than that, we're both men who believe in looking at issues and circumstances with a fresh eye and a new approach. We believe in thinking outside the box.... On issues, Blair Hull and I make a dynamic duo....I'm going to be involved in every aspect of the campaign from the schedule of the candidate to the victory party--deciding where the victory party is going to be at.

So either Bobby Rush is a hypocrite or he can't remember who he endorsed for Senate just a couple years ago when the one choice WAS an African-American. If anything, I feel bad for Burris being in the middle of the circle jerk.

people think they can say anything to fit their agenda and dare anyone to point out the hypocricy.

Now what is Bobby Rush's agenda?

5. Exactly! We all need to be asking what blago, burris, and rush
hope to get out of this deal. His comments were totally inappropriate.

6. I'll be glad when this
finally plays out and we get a bonafide Democratic Senator from Illinois. I don't care what color he or she is.

2007 Based on a point system, with points assigned for actions in support of or in opposition to Children's Defense Fund's position, Representative Rush received a rating of 100.

9. Bobby Rush's race baiting was really distasteful and hypocritical considering him his 2003 stance
Rush did run against Obama earlier and won and I think he felt threatened by Obama's political successes, which must now must be driving him crazy.

As my OP illustrates, if getting a black Senator was so important to Rush, why did he endorsed the rich white guy when Obama had the chance to be a black senator in 2004... which he did indeed do...

13. small correction- it was barack who ran against bobby.
he was already a pretty long time incumbent when he was challenged by barack.
i think he is getting more grief here than he deserves. what do you expect from a former black panther? you expect him to not care about having an all white senate? this is what obama talked about- people still fighting the old battles. yes, bobby is still fighting the old battles. lots of us here are, too. human nature.
and no old lion worth his salt lets a young cub take a swipe and him and then forgets about it. be real people.
bobby is a good man. and a good congressman.
he has been in the fight of his life with cancer.
and just fy everyone's i, blair hull was a great candidate.

give him a break. just give him a break.

16. One can have a phenomenal voting record and be a great representative...
and still be a colossal asshole and hypocrite. Rep. Rush seems to have accomplished this rare feat.

10. Please don't feel sorry for that POS narcissist Burris.
He's just as much of a power-hungry megalomaniac as Blago. If Rush wasn't so damn entrenched in his district, I'd start a "Friends of Yet-To-Be-Named Challenger to Bobby Rush" group.

I'm so fucking through with him after this stunt.

11. Agreed. Burris is nearly as much of an egotistical prick as Blago...
which is quite an accomplishment.

17. It's pretty obvious to me
Rush gave Blago money. Blago, being a snide asshat, decided to use Burris in a classic case of turning the attention now on Burris.

Rush decided to use the Race Card Deluxe (now with lynching!) as some kind of empowerment where a black person needs to replace a person who was black. Perhaps when Blago goes, he needs to be replaced by a Serb, which Blago brags about.
