8. When you send good thoughts into the universe...
good conquers all. And I am sure if it was not safe, the Secret Service would not have let him out the car.

23. Since good thoughts can take as long as eight years...
...to kick in, I'm glad we've got Secret Service agents to rely on in addition to good thoughts, for a bit more here-and-now security.

Of course, I think of that when every President makes his stroll down the avenue.

19. See those guys following close by?
Those are some of the deadliest, best trained men on the planet. The cops on the line are well-trained to spot a threat. Every square inch within several city blocks of him is under a microscope of surveillance. And there are a million people who would jump on anyone that acted in a threatening way because they love their new President .

27. "Fear not him who can kill the body..."
Edited on Tue Jan-20-09 04:22 PM by Clio the Leo
"but Him who can destroy your soul in hell." That's my motto ..... and I would imagine it's Barack's too. Lincoln also had a great quote about how any man who lives in fear never really lives. Life's too short so waste all the great moments in worry. You'll miss the parade.

30. Insofar as to whether or not the GOP will be obstructionist-happy?
An unqualified yes. It's naive to think that most of them will roll over and/or purposefully help Obama succeed even if it would mean that things would get better for a lot of people in this country but it's not like most of them ever really cared about most people out there but I hope that most of them (or at least SOME of them) will be willing to work constructively with Obama for the common good. I also don't want a repeat of 1994 Democratic bloodbath/massacre although the Democrats have only been back in power for 2 years and those 2 years were under a Republican President so I don't know exactly how the Republicans can make the case that the Democrats have been (back) in power for too long like they did back in 1994 nor is the current state of the Republican party particularly conducive to a "comeback" any time in the near future. I also don't THINK Obama and the Democrats in Congress will make some of the same "mistakes" that Clinton made but the 1994 "Gingrich Revolution" made it impossible for Clinton to get anything progressive enacted for the rest of his Presidency and led to reversals to some of his earlier gains and I don't want the same thing to happen to Obama.

But then he just got out again where it's expected.
