AP Says Kennedy is Still in It
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A person familiar with Caroline Kennedy's decision says she has renewed her determination to win appointment to the U.S. Senate seat once held by her slain uncle, Sen. Bobby Kennedy.

The source says that after her surviving uncle, Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts, suffered a seizure on Inauguration Day, Caroline Kennedy had misgivings about taking on the new job.

1. I wonder if the NYP's "sources" were Cuomo operatives?

3. Wow, is someone trying to bring her down?

Leak that she pulled her hat out of the ring, only to have it not be true could be damaging to her.

I hope they find out who did this!

4. Either way, he should just appoint someone TOMORROW
What sense does it make to let her twist in the wind, if he's not going to pick her. And its time to get this done. Hillary is the Sec of State. NY needs another Senator

7. Yep...major confusion, fuelled by her decision not to clear things up
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 11:35 PM by BeyondGeography
Meantime, NYT.com is still running her withdrawal as the lead story and many here are blaming the whole thing on Paterson and the Post.

10. I'll take a wild guess that Paterson communicated to her...
... that he was picking someone else and her PR people ( i.e. Mayor Bloomerang's pr people) thought it would look better ( for all concerned) if she 'reconsidered' rather than got passed over.

Just a hunch. We shall see. There's always lots of work not to do at the Dept. of Ed.

11. At first I thought she was being a team player
sparing Paterson the fallout from not choosing her in return for some consideration elsewhere. But her camp's subsequent denials have blown that utopian vision out of the sky. Silly me.

8. Oh come on - this is getting silly. Patterson just needs to pick someone already.
