5. Why are most of us forgetting that Michael Moore, the quintessential liberal, was once an ardent

supporter and proud member of the NRA? We liberals must understand and embrace the ENTIRE Constitution. We cannot pick and choose like the cons do. We have to understand that gun ownership and gun rights are just as important as making sure that there are reasonable regulations on gun owners and certain kinds of weapons (semiautos, etc.). But we give the Right too much ammunition (pun intended) to use against us by not realizing that being progressive doesn't have to mean being unreasonable. I may not agree with her 100% NRA rating, but it does take this issue away from the Righties, and she is progressive/liberal where it counts...even MORE liberal than Hillary or Schumer who are DLC sycophants.

I certainly don't like some of the positions the NRA takes. I don't like their knee-jerk reaction to and slippery-slope argument against any and all forms of gun control. I don't like that they are one of, if not the most, powerful example of lobbyists having sway over politicians. That said, you are absolutely on target when you said "We cannot pick and choose like the cons do."

Apples and oranges, again. The NRA was a different organization before the Cincinnati Revolt in 1977. JFK's association
with the organization and Gillibrand's 100% approval rating with them are hardly comparable. What is she doing getting
a rating like that from an organization that spent millions trying to defeat the Democratic presidential candidate this year?
Guess it was the same thing she was doing being against gun control and favoring an extension of the Bush tax cuts.

My father used to be a lifetime member too, but he resigned when he concluded they had gone off the deep end.

Also, you seem to be under the impression that John Kennedy is the absolute final word for all of history when it comes to being a progressive. He was a man who lived half a century ago, not some kind of deified emperor who dictates good policy or desirable associations for the rest of time.

Their mouthpieces are LaPierre and Ted Nugent. Enough said. I work at Bristol Motor Speedway and every year they donate a large check to the speedway's charity for children. This really old asshole gets up there every year and screams about "libruls takin' our guns away" bullshit. The speedway tries to get him to tone it down to no avail. Every year they have to bring him right beside my section and I always boo him. Great fun for me! He always looks so shocked. Yep. I am a "librul" and f*** you asshole. Good fun.
