AHA! It IS the GOP that's pulling down Congressional approval ratings!

I've long argued with people in various settings (from online to to the dinner table) that Congress's low approval ratings is a result of Republicans and not Democrats. And here's a poll that lends credibility to that position:

The latest Diageo/Hotline poll finds that 49% of voters approve of Democrats in Congress while 38% disapprove. However, congressional Republicans do not fare quite as well with just 26% of voters approving of their job performance.

49% aint't great - but it's a bit better than 26%!

Also - Looking ahead to 2010, Democrats lead Republicans by a whopping 46 to 22% on the generic congressional ballot.

1. I know jobs will continue to be lost for most, if not all, of this year.

But, in 2010, I am hopeful that the trend will turn around. And, when it does, the Dems will own any success. We will make even more advances in the House and get the filibuster-proof super majority in the Senate.
