Despite the way he's painted, Dean has always been pragmatic. He understands the near futility in trying to push single payer universal healthcare ("No single payer system, since it won't pass Congress." (Nov 2003) "If you want total healthcare reform, I'm not your guy. (Oct 2003)").

Problem is, Republicans will obstruct any meaningful healthcare reform.

Too partisan? Fine. The house and senate GOP has shown they don't want to play ball with the President so why should we want to play with them?

He's as good a pick as anyone out there. Sign him up and then let him and Emanuel do a PR blitzkrieg through vulnerable Republican's house districts until they get the message.
