I just caught on to something: GOP politicians secretly HATE Rush!
Think about it. Just imagine if we had something similar on our side--if the most influential and powerful voice for Democrats in this country was a loudmouth bully who had never actually held any elected office in his life?

When our side wins, this mouthpiece takes all the credit. When we LOSE, he blames politicians for "betraying the ideals of the Party." So nothing is ever his fault, of course--despite the fact that so much Democratic policy is shaped by his say-so.

Now imagine if you're a Democratic politician with a heavily progressive base. You've been through this ordeal for years--your fellow congressmen and women get voted into and out of office based on HIS interpretation of your performance, but guess who NEVER gets voted out of office, because he HAS no office to lose? The Democratic Rush Limbaugh. You're spending millions of dollars to keep your office and convince the base that you're NOT a "Republican In Name Only"; he's smoking expensive cigars in his million-dollar Florida mansion. You're working hard to protect your image as a family values, clean-living Christian; he gets away with three dysfunctional marriages and an addiction to illegal drugs. You say something offensive and you're forced to apologize; he says something offensive and you end up apologizing to HIM!

See, in private, I think Steele and others are getting REALLY sick of carrying this guys throne in the processional. I think Obama's open criticism of Rush, whether on purpose or accidental, is causing a chain reaction throughout the Republican party, as everyone wants to claim their "base" away from the guy who does nothing but talk. It's important to note that, as nasty as Limbaugh is to Democrats and liberals, he has the potential to do the most damage to members of his own party. And of course, the "base" is too stupid to not listen to Rush, and too angry to care that many of the so-called RINOs are among the most independent-minded, productive, and WELL-LIKED members of their own party. In order to appease King Rush, they will blame the Gods and burn down Valhalla.

And what are we supposed to do? Just what Rahm recently did: remind them every so often of who holds the real power in the GOP. Then, just sit back and watch the fireworks.

1. I think the Repubs in Congress wanted Steele to take on Rush.
But Steele failed and kissed Rush's ring after all.

2. Thats ironic
The Republicans wont listen to there own politicians as they run off the cliff with Rush. It looks like the Republicans got what they wanted for so many years, the slogan non thinking followers.

We just can't let them take the rest of the country with them.

hmmm... nor can we fall into the same trap of just insulting other side, or not listening, or not thinking. Or we would be the same way. Maybe because we don't do that(as much), the Democrats have lots of different leaders people listen to, and also discuss or voice opinions to.

Interesting thought.

26. Who needs dirt when you have the ears of millions of people?
Especially when those people are what's left of your party.

6. The Congressional Repigs had to be chewing through their
restraints and spitting tacks when Emanuel said that. They are completely screwn whether they kiss Limpball's pustuled ass or whether they try and denounce him. Either the public turns on them or the base does. BWAHAHAHAHA!

20. Obama & Rahm have kicked Rush in the balls. It's about time someone did that!
Why Rush was not made into a scape-goat figure for the GOP years ago is beyond me.

Great show!!

7. Of course they do! And...
they are scared shitless of the backlash that could potentially be unleashed if the public starts associating them in any way with Rush or that Rush's policies are now the GOP policies. Therefore, Rahm Emmanuel goes on national TV and stokes the hell out of that fire just like we should all be doing.

25. and that is
exactly why Rush has gained so much weight. If he gets fat enough before the republicans figure out his screwed their party, He won't fit through the door of the radio station and they won't be able to take him out.

11. The problem they have is they have no leader right now
who the base can rally around. Rush has slid into that role because he has a base of supporters that will flood their offices with phone calls at his whim.

and stuck to his guns but he caved big time! Hillarious! Now we have 2 rethugs to point to and sell the point even more. rush is your leader!

14. I know this sounds weird, but for years the Republicans used Jesse Jackson to brand all Dems....
And I'm not comparing Jesse Jackson to Rush. Not even close. Much better person despite his flaws. BUT, they used him against us like a .45 magnum. And now, we get to use their beloved radio host exactly the same way. We brand them with their own loudmouth.

17. Little different but yeah its a similar concept
They used Jesse to scare racist white folks.

We are using Rush to expose them for what they really are.

24. I think the GOPs will lose again in 2010, and I think Rush will get some of the blame.
There will be some of the Pubs who are awake enough to understand this is not just a blip - they are in serious trouble as a viable party - and they may just turn on their leader...
Of course, being Republicans, they might run him for President in 2012, as well.
