A rare optimistic prediction from my Cassandra-ass keyboard

It is quite possible that stocks will give up the ghost this week and put in a solid medium-term bottom.

Granted, that bottom would be pretty damn low... DOW 5800? Some awful thing like that.

(A sad note when my optimistic prediction is for a short-term crash but that would be less destructive than grinding lower and lower.)

That doesn't preclude the market going down more long-term, over years like 1930s USA and 1990s Japan.
