27. LOL
I'm being bold, I stole that image from Google - keywords: 'me in Glasgow one November when it was so cold I thought I would never feel my fingers, toes, nose, lips, ears or knees again'.

It was a few years ago, late November, I literally will never forget the cold, it was searing! I've even been to Iceland since - in winter - and it was nothing compared to Glasgow.

Dunno, think it's the damp mixed with the cold in this part of the world that makes it worse, just seems to pierce you. DC was VERY cold, but I just didn't find it as bad as my Scottish jaunt. Jeez, I'm shivering at the thoughts of it!

30. Yes, Dearie, DAMP can make cold insufferable!
Try Colorado some time if you haven't! WONDERFUL cold! Same with summer heat; both transient. VERY large disparities EACH DAY!

For example, Denver tomorrow is expected to have a low of 45 and high of 72 (fahrenheit); we in DC, LOW 34, high, 45.

36. Oh DO, you won't regret it, certainly not on account of weather!
Its COMFORTABLE cold and heat! NEVER anything like our east coast. I grew up in NY, spent years in Chicago, and had a chance to live in Colorado for a year. Its COMPLETELY different, weather-wise. Dress in layers, to remove as radiant energy warms the atmosphere and we people! SPLENDID! Don't miss it!

54. Inland Maine is like that
I lived in the Maine mountains for 10 years and there were cold winter days with sun and without wind when you could just wear warm boots and a light jacket (and long underwear) because the snow reflected the sun back at you.

Weather Underground is saying 70 on Saturday, 72 on Sunday.

It isn't really still winter on the East Coast -- it just thinks it is.

First Lady in a pantsuit...that actually looks good on her! No blame for Laura Bush, but I just don't think she was built for pant suits. And Hilary Clinton is too short for them.

24. Usually in Dubin, one millimetre of snow and the city shuts down....
When I was in Washington I marvelled at how the city coped with snow. My DC pal thought I was being funny (I wasn't!) and quoted me JFK:

"DC is a city of Northern charm and Southern efficiency."

Jeez, I thought they dealt with it well....but I AM from Ireland. True, we don't get much snow, but it's hilarious how the entire country grinds to a halt when there's a sight of a flake.

Although....I was in London for work a few weeks ago and it came to a halt too, so the very western tip of Europe isn't too good at handling these things.

28. Interesting. Does snow fall regularly anywhere 'over there,'
Edinburgh? Aberdeen? (I remember distinct NORTHERN-appearing sky there.) Further north?

Not as familiar with Ireland. Snow ANYWHERE?

29. Well....
Ireland has had more snow in the last month than we've had in the last decade, so that's been kind of weird. But still, by US standards, it's been minor.

Scotland is certainly no stranger to snow, northern England gets its fair share too, southern England some - but not a lot.

Western (continental) Europe? Lots! That's where Irish and English folk (the few who have any money left) are heading for their skiing holidays as we speak - France, northern Italy, Austria, etc.

35. Am familiar with skiing spots on the continent!
I don't ski, but once husband wanted to visit a place where there was skiing proximate to a city (for me.) and we love Italy. SO I found Aosta. Prior to that we, stopped in France; where the heck? Have to check map now! Popular town. AHA, Chamonix. et fondue!!!

38. Ooooooooh Chamonix!
I've always wanted to go there! Not to ski - my ankles are fine unbroken, thank you - just to visit the place, and do all the things skiers do when they're finished with the mountains (eat, drink, etc). I'm intensely jealous - that's Chamonix and Colorado you've added to my 'must visit next' list tonight.
