5. He has always been on the side of Health Insurance interests...
My guess is he was not willing to help Obama get where he wants to go on Health Care in America.

Good! He belongs on TV, not in an important government post.

7. Now if Dean doesn't get this measly scrap thrown to him
I will not forgive Obama. He needs Howard Dean on the inside, no matter what Rahm says

11. If I were Dean, I wouldn't take it if they offered it. Coming to him
as an 'after thought?' I think not.

21. He's not doing it for Obama, he'd do it for us. Give Dean a bit more credit here.
He's not selfish enough for that. I've seen him talk and heard him during his primary run. The man is sincere about us and he won't waste his time on pettiness if he gets offered this position.

29. Pride is sinful, I know and no doubt his heart is in the right place.
I've listened to him as well and would have voted for him. This is the ideal position for him, imo, but I resent the way he's been treated. Politics should not trump the best interest of the people and I didn't expect that from this administration.

12. It's good news
Same for the Daschle withdrawal. Gupta was shaping up to be a big pharma tool on health care reform.

23. Towards the end it was Gupta hate.
I'm not a fan of him and I know he works for the Big Pharma...I don't want that around the Cabinet.

25. Good. I thought it was originally a joke that he was nominated
He may be a good doctor, but he seemed to have his own political agenda regarding single-payer.

And a remarkably ill-informed man who even when PRESENTED with the facts, continues to mislead people with lies.

26. I always thought he was a whore for the medical and insurance
lobbies, certainly not a good choice for the post.
I'm glad he won't takt it - don't care why.

28. What a relief. He was nothing more than a pretty face.
Despite his medical training and patient contact, he has zero comprehension of the plight of the uninsured. He's probably terrified his health insurance/big pharma investments will go down.
