Obama on stimulus: 'I know we did the right thing'
Edited on Fri Mar-06-09 04:49 PM by FrenchieCat
COLUMBUS, Ohio – While aknowledging an "astounding" number of job losses in February, President Barack Obama told critics of his $787 billion economic recovery plan Friday that it is saving jobs and said, "I know we did the right thing."

He suggested that critics talk to 25 police recruits in Ohio's capital city who owe their jobs to stimulus spending and "talk to the teachers who are still able to teach our children because we passed this plan."

**REALITY CHECK**

IT HAS BEEN 16 DAYS SINCE THE STIMULUS BILL WAS SIGNED, AND 44 DAYS SINCE OBAMA HAS TAKEN OFFICE!
BUSH HAD 2,920 DAYS TO FUCK THINGS UP.....FOR GOODNESS SAKES!

I abhor the naysayers, the cynics, and the Chicken Littles! :puke:

2. I abhor them too..
Of course there's still job losses..this isn't going to turn around on a dime.

8 fucking years the so called "media" gave bush to do what he wanted..and, that wasn't enough..they wanted mccain after that.

3. Evidence that what Obama is doing will work.....
There were less Jobs lost in February, than were lost in Dec or in January-
Far as I'm concerned, that's proof that what Obama is doing is working,
and way more proof than anyone can show that what he is doing is not working.

5. but the stock market says..... but but.....
you make perfect sense. using the stock market as a barometer is like using how pale a child's face is to see if they are sick or not. if they are eating, they must be better. but if they are not eating... they must be sick. there can be no other reason.

4. It's like obama came in after a hurricane.....
and he's trying to clean up the mess. and now republicans are trying to blame him for the hurricane. and expect him to clean it up without spending any money.

why do the republicans hate regular americans? they want the recession to become a depression, i think. they are willing to do everything they can to make this thing get worse, even if it means average americans suffer... because they are about themselves and not this country.

10. Thank you, FrenchieCat
I had to listen yesterday to a co-worker (during a lunch) actually stating that he hopes that Obama is assassinated. I was aghast, and told him that this man, our President, has two little girls. He angrily said that they would not always be little girls. I also said that, as much as I disliked Bush, I never wished he would be assassinated.

This is in CT, a Dem stronghold.

This co-worker is a strong Italian Catholic, and, he, surprisingly, has very little regard for Bush Jr.

To make a long story short, I think that those who are complaining about Obama's accomplishments in 45 days or so, have never, and maybe, will never, support him as our President.

I think our wonderful President has a "rough road to hoe" during this term. But, I am heartened that the majority in this country continue to view him very positively.

13. There are also those hundreds of construction workers in Missouri that began a stimulus funded
bridge building a few hours after the bill was signed.

What about those 300 window/glass workers that garnered fame with their sit-in protest after being laid off? Their company is getting a bunch of stimulus money and they get their jobs back!

16. Reality check- most economists think that it's not going to be enough
it'll slow the bleeding- but not turn the economy around.

The removal of 40 billion in federal revenue sharing- that was sheer stupidity rivaling anything Republicans (or DINO's) ever did.
