I thought it was the "thought" that counts when giving a gift
Oh well if Gordon Brown isn't happy with that DVD collection I would be glad to take it off his hands.

I guess Barrack should have skipped that health summit, and put the troubled economy on hold, until he found just the right gift that the British press corps, would have been proud to accept on Gordon Browns behalf.

Maybe next times President Barack Obama will just send him a gift card or something. That way the British press can all get together and come up with the most suitable gift that Brown could/should receive.

3. I haven't heard a peep from Brown, only the British press corps
Seems like they had a bug up their ass. They were looking for something they could use to bring President Obama down a rung or two. After they couldn't find anything legit to bitch about, they decided to drum up this BS "Oh how President Obama has snubbed the British PM." Really this is so silly it belittles the British press corps.

2. Gordon Brown gets a pass this week.
His comments on Prop 8: "It is unacceptable and shows me why we always have to be vigilant, why we have always got to fight homophobic behaviour and any form of discrimination."

6. I think it's a lovely gift
but then, I truly do believe it is indeed the thought that counts

7. That's the problem. Most on here believe there was no "thought"

put into the gift and it was an offhanded response to the Browns who came bearing gifts.

In my opinion it was a fine gift and I really don't see the need to give each other gifts. We got important shit to worry about than focusing on trivial nonsense.

8. Do heads of state actually keep the trinkets?
I mean "real" heads of state, not like Iraqi officials accepting pallets of hundreds.

Does Obama keep the stuff he gets? Or does he send a thank-you note, then donate the stuff to the basement of the Smithsonian or the National Archives, never to be seen again?

DVD's are good. Just donate them to a hospital where they will be appreciated.

If I visited Britain as a head of state, I'd want nothing less than a miniature replica of Big Ben, with a thermometer attached to make it useful. Something really cool like that.

:hi:

9. I do not believe Obama will keep the pen holder or book on Churchhill
it will stay in the White House and it has been said PM Gordon Brown does not keep his gifts either but rather regifts them. I really don't understand the big deal but maybe it just has to do with culture differences between Americans and British.
