I wish MSNBC would play that clip over and over again to tell people to chill the f#$k out and give Obama and team time to work.

Once again, there is no magic bullet.

edit to add - you can fast-forward by dragging the little do-dad to the right (after the commercial ends).

Who gave the defense? I can guess it wasn't Joe Scarborough or Mika or Pat Buchanan.

5. It was the author of "House of Cards:The Fall of Bear Stearns and the Collapse of the Global Market"

William Cohan and Jon Hilsenrath from The Wall Street Journal.

After those two guys defend Geitner then Jack Welch agrees that Geitner has done everything right and how complicated it is but Geitner just isn't a great communicator.

The WSJ reporter calls the problem a monster which Geitner and Obama are up against and that people need to give them time to deal with it. That they are making all the right decisions but Wall Street wants a quick and easy answer when there isn't one.

10. Geithner has been endorsed by writers from the WSJ and Jack Welch?
I don't have a high opinion of his endorsers. Two shills for Wall Street and the guy who is at least partly responsible for the spread of unscrupulous labor practices are not my faves.

Actually, their endorsement makes me think that Geithner must surely be on the wrong track.

14. When it comes to these guys, I think that my brush is the right size.
Jack Welch has a huge amount of blood on his hands, and what he wants most is for GE Capital, which is hemorrhaging money, to get to float its government insured junk bonds in the market for a big price. That way his stock and options, that in my opinion he did not deserve, remain valuable.

11. Wall Street wants a quick answer when
they unleashed unholy hell on America.

6. Their comments were enough to get Mika to say in the "What did we learn?" segment at the end

of the show that (paraphrase) "people are being REALLY impatient with the economic crisis and we need to give them 6-9 months to work it through AND that we've been throwing around a lot of hysterical words here so simmer down". Halperin followed it with "throw away the stop watch and get a calendar".

3. Geithner helped fuck things up and cashed in along the way. Now he gets to "fix" it.
AFAIAC, he was out of time before he showed up.

4. I was not too far from the truth when I said that the ReRushlicans would be
doing the following:

1/20/2009:

Barack Obama: "So help me ..."

media/Republicans: "IMPEACH HIM NOW! HE'S DESTROYING THE COUNTRY!"

Obama: "God ..."

---------------------------------

contrast that with the media:

Bush 9/13/2001 - "We will fight the Axis of Evil of Iraq, Iran, and Osama bin Laden! This was all Clinton's fault! I'm still settling into office! Where's my honeymoon?"

media/Republicans: "Gee, Clinton really left a hellacious mess for Bush to work with!"
