Senate Democratic leaders are confident they have enough votes to move a $410 billion omnibus spending bill through the Senate Tuesday after picking up a handful of key votes.
<...>
Democrats have 58 votes in the Senate, but can't count on all of their members supporting the omnibus. Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) pledged to vote against the omnibus in an op-ed he wrote in the Wall Street Journal last week. That, along with wavering support from both Nelsons and Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), made it a challenge to reach the 60-vote threshold to end debate on the bill.
But Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) was among those who said they expected enough crossover Republican support to reach the threshold.
"I feel good about it," Durbin said. "A number of Republicans have indicated that with the amendments that they requested, they’ll be able to consider it."

Tuesday’s vote to end debate on the omnibus would be followed by a final vote on the bill itself, which is expected to pass by a wider margin.
